ACCESS TO PROTECTION.
All the prerequisites to access your inheritance of divine protection are contained in Psalm 91. It all begins with abiding in God:
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1
Abiding in Him means being saved. As you have surely discovered, being born again is a non-negotiable requirement to access any of God’s graces. You must be saved to be safe.
“I say to the Lord, ‘You are my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!‘” Psalm 91:2
Put your trust in God and in the provisions He has made for you. Thus, He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, from the plague, and from destruction. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings, you will find refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. You must trust in God for your protection because :
“Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever” (Psalm 125:1).
God becomes your defense when you trust in Him. His covering over you and all that concerns you remains intact forever. At this stage, everything you say is divinely empowered, clothed with power, to be fulfilled as you have declared. It is therefore your responsibility to declare your immunity in God:
“I will say to the Lord, ‘You are my refuge and my fortress…‘”
Fear must be far from you if you want to enjoy your inheritance of protection.
“You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.” Psalm 91:5-6
As we saw in the case of Job, fear makes you an easy prey for the devil (Job 3:25). Not being afraid reveals your faith in God, which immediately guarantees divine intervention in your favor. Fear is the opposite of faith. And without faith, it is impossible to please God. Furthermore, you must love Him to enjoy His protection. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord,
“I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.” Psalm 91:14
Choosing God leads Him to ensure your deliverance. David loved God passionately. No wonder he enjoyed so much divine protection. God referred to him as a man after His own heart. As a result, despite the many wars David fought, he was neither injured nor did he lose any of his battles. To walk in the reality of divine protection, you must also know His name and know how to put it into action. “…because he acknowledges my name.” Verse 14 Put His name into action whenever you face adversity. Tell any problem: “In the name of Jesus Christ whom I love, pack up and crash!” the Bible says:
“The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10
God will establish you much higher because you know His name. So call upon Him, for He will always answer you!
“He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” Verse 15
When you face a confrontation, simply call Him The Almighty God and say: “Lord, show Yourself!” He has promised to deliver and honor you. There is no protection anywhere else, or in anyone else but God (Isaiah 8:9-20). With the right keys in your hands, you can open any door and enter, for all things have been given to you freely, so that you may enjoy them. Everything discussed in this book, and much more, represents your inheritance of redemption in Christ. Jesus has fully paid the price for you to enjoy it. My prayer is that you have access to these inheritances, and that you truly enjoy them, in the name of Jesus!
