Jesus describes his blood as that of a covenant: “While they were eating, Jesus took bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, Take, eat, this is my body. He then took a cup; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying: Drink of it, all of you; for this is my blood, the blood of the covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. » Matthew 26:26-28

Through the alliance, it seals our bond with God and makes it more than casual. We have an arrangement, agreement, contract, commitment or covenant with God. This covenant is infinitely higher and stronger than all the covenants that are made in this world with paper and pen.

We have a blood bond with Christ, renewed regularly at the communion table. This is why He recommended that we do it in remembrance of Him.

For I received from the Lord what I taught you; that the Lord Jesus, in the night in which he was betrayed, took bread, and having given thanks, broke it, and said: This is my body, which is broken for you; do this in memory of me. Likewise, after he had supper, he took the cup, and said, This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this in remembrance of me whenever you drink it. “1 Corinthians 11:23-25
