“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2

Pharaoh did not rely on Joseph because he was a believer; during the great famine that prevailed at that time, nations did not come to Egypt because a man of God was prime minister. NO! Nebuchadnezzar did not call Daniel because he knew him as a servant of God. Therefore, know that nations will not come to you because you are a Christian, but because, in the face of their confusion, you will have a solution to offer them.

People will seek you out because you are an answer to their needs. Jesus said, “Let YOUR GOOD works be seen by men.” He did not say, “Let men know that you are Christians,” but rather, let them see what you are capable of doing through God and with God. You cannot lend to nations if you have nothing to give. However, even before your birth, God had planned good works for you to accomplish (Ephesians 2:10). It is through these works that you will lend to nations.

One remarkable thing about all these heroes of God who influenced pagan nations is their character. They were all uncompromising about their values in God and were ready to lose their honor and even their lives for God.

This is how Mordecai refused to bow down before a man at the risk of losing his life; Daniel accepted the idea of ​​dying rather than changing his prayer custom. Joseph preferred humiliation and prison to the sin of sex. They were all uncompromising in their commitments, and their inflexible character made them reliable and faithful to their God and His principles. Their words could be trusted, and they could be relied upon.

A person is effective not only because they have mastery of their subject but also because they are reliable. The capacity for the blessing of influence is effectiveness, which is firm character + Expertise.

1. Let’s talk about character

“As your decisions are, so shall your success be; the light will shine on your ways.” Job 22:28

He should have won several Grand Slam tournaments in tennis by now because everyone agrees on his unique talent and ability to beat the best players of his generation. Yet, his temperament, so changeable, his mood instability prevented him from being effective in the long term. Nick Kyrgios has a certain expertise but lacks the character to stabilize his gift. He cannot be effective in the long term if he does not solve his character problem.

I have worked with many talented but unstable people, and I never knew if they would follow through with a project or not. At any moment, I expected them to tell me that they no longer felt the desire to continue. Their instability made them unreliable, thus ineffective, causing them to lose contracts and opportunities.

You must work on your character, or else your blessing of influence will be blocked, and you will not be able to lend to nations. Joseph was so honest and faithful that all his superiors, from Potiphar to Pharaoh, had complete confidence in him. The divine wisdom of Daniel and his friends was revealed after they had resolved and stood firm.

Yes, good character will open the hearts of men and God to you.

2. Let’s talk about Expertise

“And Pharaoh said to his servants: Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God.” Genesis 41:38

Do you know that the stars shine constantly in the sky, day and night? But we do not see them during the day because the light of the sun surpasses that of the stars. If you do not develop your level of expertise, you will be drowned amidst the multitude. But if you elevate your quality, your expertise, your light will be even more dazzling.

Belshazzar’s mother could say of Daniel that a light worthy of the gods had been found in him. There is within you a level of expertise from heaven that the world needs.

To be effective, you must have character and expertise, that is, be very good in a given field. A being considered very effective among God’s creatures is the serpent. Despite the hostile environment, it is an animal species that manages to thrive in all environments, on all continents.

Inspired by its wisdom, as recommended by Jesus, you will learn to be more effective for the Kingdom. The Apostle Paul said to Timothy: “Find faithful and capable people” (2 Timothy 2:2). Yes! God is looking for faithful and capable people to impact the nations.

Let us pray together: Lord, help me to be more effective in the area where you have established me and help me to develop the character of a child of God. Amen.
