Stormie Omartian is an American Christian author. She is married to Michael Omartian, with whom she recorded five musical albums before launching her writing career. Omartian aspired to become a singer and actress from an early age. While still a student at UCLA, she began working as a singer, dancer and actress, appearing in several professional theater productions in the California area and later on The Dean Martin Show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, The Mac Davis Show, and The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, as well as many other roles. [She has worked as a backing vocalist for Glen Campbell, Neil Diamond, Ray Charles, The Imperials and other well-known artists. She also sang for a time in the Norman Luboff Choir and toured with The Sandpipers. The duo Stormie & Sunny released a pop single in 1967 called “All The Warm Is Gone”, but it did not enter the charts.
Omartian and her husband have written hundreds of songs, including the Christian musical Child of the Promise. They have released a collection of praise and worship songs, The Prayer that Changes Everything (published by Integrity Music), which features familiar praise songs as well as original Omartian music. The music was arranged and produced by Michael Omartian.

Born in 1942 in Nebraska, Omartian grew up on a small ranch in eastern Wyoming before moving with her family to Compton, California when she was eight years old. She has a sister, Suzy, 12 years her junior.
After a brief first marriage, she married Michael Omartian in 1973. They are the parents of three adult children, Christopher (born in 1976, married Paige Omartian), John (born in 1979) and Amanda (born in 1981), and live in the Nashville area since 1993.
Prior to her marriages, she was romantically involved with comedian Steve Martin when they were both aspiring theater performers at Knotts Berry Farm.
