BRING YOUR FIVE LOAVES AND TWO FISH.
I understood and embraced the mystery of multiplication in my life a few months ago. For at least 21 days, I kept asking myself the same question: What system triggered the multiplication? First, there is faith—the faith of Jesus, the faith of the crowd, but also the faith of the young boy who had the foresight to bring five loaves and two fish with him during three days in the wilderness. That being said, we can see this young boy as a visionary. Visionaries plan their provisions and provide for their needs.
Beyond faith, you must be armed with discipline. Jesus first instructed the crowd to sit down. Why did He do that? Surely, there was movement in the wilderness—people coming and going, chatting, noise. He wanted silence, calm, and focus. Some results—or better yet, some achievements—can only be attained through tough discipline, in the school of silent labor. And reaching the point of true discipline can take years.
In addition to discipline, we find the central element: the seed. Multiplication was not born out of nothing. Five loaves and two fish were offered and then multiplied. Jesus multiplied something that had been presented: a seed. The same principle applies to the earth and its creatures, to water and its inhabitants.
If you plant a corn seed, you’ll reap at least one ear of corn. If you release two small fish into the sea, chances are that within a few years, you’ll find hundreds of fish. Something must be planted in order to grow. Without a seed, there is no gain. Without a seed, there is no success. So, what do you have to sow?
Multiplication becomes operational through the combination of three major factors: faith, discipline, and the seed. FAITH – DISCIPLINE – SEED. If we were in a broader setting, I could elaborate more on these principles. But know this: if you have faith but lack discipline, you will fail. And if you have faith with a dose of discipline but sow nothing—relying only on fasting and prayer—you will die poor.
Jesus, our model, didn’t just pray. Even God the Creator, from the very beginning, did not pray—He acted. “In the beginning, God created” (Genesis 1:1). Thus, in the beginning, man, as a son of God, must also create. Have you created anything yet? If so, what have you created? If not, what do you plan to create?
