I had two young people at church who contracted malaria. The first one, despite his condition, kept saying: “I don’t want to be sick.” He was sweating and had a fever of 42 degrees Celsius. I advised him to see a doctor, but he refused. He kept repeating, “I cannot be sick.” He wasn’t proclaiming that the Lord would heal him; he was simply stating, “I cannot be sick,” which are two entirely different things.

I prayed with him, and he continued declaring, “I cannot be sick; I cannot accept that there are health issues in my life; it’s impossible. I am a new creation.” When we finished praying, I told him that it would be done according to his faith. Two weeks later, I saw him again at church in perfect health. When I asked him if he had taken any medication, he replied that the medicine of God’s Word had been enough to heal him.

Glory to God!

The second young man got malaria a few days later, and the nurse at the hospital called me to talk about him. He told me that the brother arrived in poor condition and refused all the medication offered to him. Strangely and amusingly, he kept repeating: “Zoe life, Zoe life, Zoe life, Zoe life, Zoe life…” and then went back home.

Three days later, he returned to the hospital on a stretcher and was put on IV fluids. Before falling asleep under the effect of the treatment, he told the nurse: “Don’t tell the church that I’m here.”

This illustrates the difference between someone who repeats words in vain and someone who is fully aware that they cannot be sick. The first brother had the assurance that even if illness touched his body and he felt the symptoms, it would only be superficial and temporary. The sickness could affect his body, but it could not remain in it because his body is the temple of the living God.

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.” — 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (Segond 21)

I don’t understand how a mosquito bite can determine my movements. That’s impossible.

That was the attitude of the first brother, fully convinced of what he was saying. The symptoms were there, but his faith and declarations brought him victory.

Be careful! However, be convinced and certain that God is the one guiding you, and do not act recklessly without intelligence or wisdom.

The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; He protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. — Psalm 34:20-21 (Segond 21)

Regarding the second Christian, his attitude reveals that the challenges and problems in our lives will expose whether our declarations come from our hearts or just from our mouths. If what you confess does not come from the heart, challenges will always prevail over you because they have a legal right on this earth. Only the new creation who is aware of their inheritance and identity, walking in the light, will have the power to overcome the challenges of this world.

First, do your part by proclaiming what God tells you. You won’t overcome all challenges at once—take it step by step. Stay focused, don’t be scattered, and God will give you grace.

Finally, proclaiming God’s Word is a crucial step in possessing our inheritance in Christ. By declaring God’s promises with faith, we release His power into our lives. Remember, knowing the Word is not enough; we must proclaim it and firmly believe in it.

As you continue reading, start getting used to proclaiming! God is with you, and His Spirit teaches you…
