You will agree with me that 70% of the words or revelations people receive from God, apart from the Holy Scriptures, come through dreams. Why? Simply because, as I explained in the first chapter, during sleep, a person’s body is at rest, but this is not the case for their soul, and even less so for their spirit.

Let me repeat the diagram I gave you in the first chapter. Man is a spirit, inhabiting a body and possessing a soul. Take the text of Genesis 2:7:

The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” » King James Version

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” King James Version

Here the Bible tells the story of the formation of man, while Genesis 1:27 speaks of the creation of man.

And God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

These two texts help us understand that in Genesis 1, God creates the true man, that is, the spirit who is in the image and likeness of God. God has no body; he is a spirit according to John 4:24; therefore, it is in the image and likeness of his spirit that he creates the spirit of man.

But the man he has just created is called to rule over a world that is physical. So in Genesis 2, He forms a body for him from the dust of the earth. Then He takes the spirit (which means breath in Hebrew) that He had created in Genesis 1 and places it in the body He has just formed. This contact between body and spirit produces the soul. “And the man became a living being.

When God speaks to us in any way, God’s word is received in our spirit and passes through our soul, which is the seat of the intellect and emotions before reaching our body. And when we are awake, we are subject not only to the emotions of the soul but also to the distraction of our body (flesh) and its daily life.

Thus, God, to help us escape the distraction of our body, at the risk of us not paying attention to what He is saying to us, sometimes uses dreams to be in direct contact with our spirit. Which in turn will deposit the images in our memory, that is, our soul, which is in constant connection with our body.

Very often, the Lord speaks to many people while they are awake, but their environments, their distractions, their routines do not allow them to grasp God’s message. This is why it is easier for them to receive the divine message in dreams. Not that dreams are God’s preferred method of communication, but at least there is a greater likelihood of grasping His message.

What then can we say about the pagan whose spirit is dead because he has not been born again, that is, born of the spirit? Since the eyes of his body are closed because he is asleep and the eyes of his spirit are the same because he is dead, with what eyes does he see in his dreams?

Although his spirit is dead, he continues to possess a soul. And the soul also possesses eyes in the same way as the body and the spirit. Remember the story of the fall of man when he ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil:

Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You shall not surely die. For God does know that in the day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like gods, knowing good and evil.'” The woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasant to the eyes, and that it was desirable to make one wise. She took some of its fruit and ate. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. The eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked…” Genesis 3:4-7

That day, after eating the fruit, the Bible says, “the eyes of both of them were opened,” yet they were not blind. So whose eyes were they? These are the eyes of the soul. This is why it was linked to intelligence and knowledge, not to physical sight. Thus, the Bible does not say that they saw that they were naked, but rather that they knew that they were naked. It is the soul that is therefore the domain of knowledge and intelligence. And intelligence also means imagination.

Do this exercise: close your eyes and imagine a ripe mango, and then open your eyes. Notice that your eyes were closed; there was no mango with you, yet you saw this ripe mango. Why? Because this scenario was taking place in your imagination, in your soul.

It was his eyes that were opened from the Garden of Eden. This is how Paul speaks to the Ephesians, saying:

And may the eyes of your heart be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling” (Ephesians 1:18).

Whoever speaks of the heart is speaking of the soul, because the heart represents emotions. Therefore, it is the soul that is being spoken of. And notice, he does not say “so that you may see” but rather “so that you may know.” For knowledge and understanding are the prerogative of the soul, as we have seen.

Note also that Paul does not say that he “opens” the eyes of your heart, for this was done by the fruit of the tree of knowledge, but rather that he illuminates. Illuminate means to bring more light, more understanding, more clarity. Therefore, it is with the eyes of the soul that the pagan sees in a dream, and the same is true for the Christian, especially when he is not spiritual.

The eyes of the spirit open at the new birth, but their scales fall through prayer (primarily prayer in tongues) and fasting. The eyes of the spirit see directly into the spiritual world and the invisible, thus they can be in direct contact with the divine, both awake and asleep.

When you see in your dreams through the eyes of the soul, you can only see what the Lord communicates as an image to your imagination without actually having access to the spiritual world. You are therefore the recipient of images that have already been worked on, sometimes enigmatic and complex for your own understanding. All of this is merely an attempt by the spiritual world to communicate with you…
