Eden refers to the land where the Lord planted a garden intended to be the ideal and permanent dwelling place for mankind. As humanity’s first home, Eden means “delight, pleasure.” This unique place is an inexhaustible source of joy, a garden of abundance, rest, and serenity, scattered with lush green pastures.

God placed man at the heart of these delights. Eden represents the environment for which you were created—a place of happiness designed by God for you.

A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. — Psalm 23:1-2

David compares himself to a sheep led by God, the shepherd, to green pastures. The word “pasture” used by David comes from the Hebrew word Naah, which can also be translated as “shepherd’s house.” Thus, man is guided and established in the dwelling of God. Everything that belongs to God is destined for mankind, according to His will. The Lord Jesus said: Where I am, there my servant also will be” (John 12:26).

God’s way of life is the standard of living for His children. Many Christians believe in God’s love but think they are inevitably destined to suffer throughout their life on earth. No, this is not God’s will for you. He has carefully designed plans to offer you a peaceful life on earth.

The people of Israel were freed from Egypt to live in the land flowing with milk and honey. However, the entire generation that left Egypt perished in the wilderness due to their unbelief. God never intended for His people to remain in the desert—a place of restrictions where they were limited in their provisions and lived day to day.

Their food was rationed, and they survived without any material reserves. Although they left slavery, they did not enter the abundant joy that was reserved for them in the land of Canaan. Many Christians have sincerely and truly received Jesus into their lives, but few enjoy the abundant delights that Jesus came to offer them.

Leaving sin behind is one thing, but it is not God’s ultimate purpose. His goal is to bring you into the abundance of His house, into His provision. God’s grace is not limited to delivering you from sin—it goes further, healing your body, freeing you from lack and all other shortcomings, and making you prosper.

Do not stop at the stage of leaving Egypt; reach the abundance of milk and honey. Do not be deceived by the illusion of worldly reality—your surroundings should not be the standard by which you measure your life. Instead, evaluate your life according to God’s provision for you. It is possible to think your life is fulfilling compared to others, but in the light of God’s provision, you may not yet be living in the fullness of what He has for you.

God created you to live in the midst of delights. As long as He has planned better for you, do not settle for less…
