EDUCATIONAL VALUES.
A wise man said that when you stop learning you start dying. Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at eighty or at eight. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. One of the greatest things in life is to keep your mind young and fresh and this comes through education. To get your children mentally developed, get involved in their education both formal and informal.

The mother of the renowned neurosurgeon, Ben Carson was often seen by her friends as being too strict with her two sons when she was bringing them up. Her neighbors accused her of being overly possessive of her boys but Carson later on in life acknowledged that without those strict measures taken by his mother, he wouldn’t be who he is today.
He stated that he almost had a kind resentment for Bennie, his mother. He sav her as a woman who mounted too much pressure on him. But all the pressures he go from his mother, like deprivation from viewing television, going for movies and the like have resulted in the pleasures he has today.
To get your children mentally developed, get involved in their education both formal and informal.
Bennie’s children initially reacted when she subjected them to reading a minimum of two books per week. They saw no reason why they should be restricted from enjoying their time like other children do. But she did not shift her ground. Rather, she kept on monitoring them until completing two books a week became a regular routine for them.
Register your children in good schools that your family budget can accommodate and personally monitor their progress. Be practically involved in the academic performance of your children.
First and foremost you must have an understanding of the peculiarity of each of your children, their area of interest and level of performance. You should carefully help them to establish their goals.
Be practically involved in the academic performance of your children.
Be firm to ensure the right thing at the right time not at their convenience. Patiently put them through their home works and review their class works with them. If there is need to engage them in extra home lessons in areas of their challenge, don’t hesitate to employ a home teacher for them.
Children need to understand the value of hard work. Hard work is going an extra mile in getting something done. Teach them to be hard working in order to be free from hard life.
Teach your children that their work is what determines their worth and place in life.
Hard work is a great value that you must build into your children. Work makes you rub your mind with other people for better input. Teach your children that their work is what determines their worth and place in life. A glorious destiny is an offshoot of a serious approach to life. Paul the Apostle said, Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12). In other words, work out your work.
Ben Carson would not have been anywhere near greatness and fame if he did not do something different from the normal and if he did not go the etra mile than his contemporaries in the medical field. Ben’s mother literally instilled the spirit of hard work in her sons. Apart from reading a minimum of two books per week, Bennie also ensured that visiting the library became their habit.
They never missed their sessions at the library. She made sure that they did it themselves. They went to the library themselves, sought out books for themselves, read for themselves and learnt life’s lessons for themselves. These were extra steps because they were still very young at that time. But Bennie saw beyond their ages and tasked them into doing what has made them celebrities today.
Ben did not like it when his mother reduced the time they spent on television to the barest minimum. He enjoyed movies a lot and at first saw no sense in what his mother was saying, but through the persistence of his mother and reluctant co-operation on his part, he stopped watching movies.
Thank God he hearkened to the words of his mother.
Ben Carson was acclaimed the best neurosurgeon of his time. In his book, The Gifted Hands no Chapter ever passed without reference to his great mom, Bennie. Ben’s story can never be told without a mention of his mothers name.
Children who read and study become leaders. They never suffer from inferiority complex.
“The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.” Proverbs 23:24
