KEY VERSE: But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom. (Matthew 26:29, NKJV)

Like Joshua and Samuel, Elisha was also called to a great purpose. He was born to be one of Israel’s greatest prophets. He performed many miracles, such as purifying water (2 Kings 2:21), multiplying bread (2 Kings 4:42-44), healing Naaman (2 Kings 5:1-27), and making an axe head float (2 Kings 6:1-7).

As a man destined for greatness, one of the first blessings God gave him was a spiritual father, Elijah. We see this in the way he addressed Elijah when he was taken up to heaven. He said:

My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen! (2 Kings 2:11-12, NKJV).

His biological father’s name was Shaphat (1 Kings 19:19). Elijah was his spiritual father—the one through whom ministerial grace flowed into his life. I see the grace to walk in the supernatural flowing into your life!

I see your prophetic season dawning, manifesting in your life… To possess your kingdom, the Elijah that God has placed in your life must be more than just a leader. He must be a father to you! Pray now that God will give you the heart of a son!

Prayer

Father God, I desire to have the heart of a faithful son. Everything that hinders me from receiving Your blessings, I rebuke it in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Application

As a son or daughter, what practices will you begin to adopt today that you believe will help you connect more effectively with your spiritual father?
