Express Provision, Not Need!
Be ‘provision-conscious’ and not ‘need-conscious.’ God has already accomplished certain things for your benefit, even if you’re not aware of them. However, there are other things that come to your attention, and you realize you have a need. Once you identify a need, don’t start praying to ask God to meet that need. Don’t let it become the central focus of your prayers. If you do so, you’ll be expressing your need rather than your provision.
What you should do instead is declare that God has already provided for that need. You say, “Father, in the Name of Jesus, I receive my house.” When you do this, you connect to God’s provision system. It may seem very simple, but that’s the Gospel. That’s the Good News. It’s so simple; you don’t need to struggle or beg.
When the Gospel does not cover the things you desire, you’ll have to fast, strive, and pay the price for them. But when these things fall within the provisions of the glorious Gospel of Christ, then relax, knowing that they already belong to you.
No More “Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread”
Jesus taught His disciples how to pray to the Father: “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11). This prayer was necessary at the time because, due to Adam’s betrayal, humanity lost dominion over the earth and handed it to Satan. As a result, man had to pray for daily bread, as Satan established an evil system that governed the world. This continued until Jesus came to defeat and dominate the devil.
You see, there is a vast difference between life under the Old Testament and life as a new creation in Christ. In the Old Testament, the Jews had to pray and ask God for their daily bread and for all their needs to be met. Jesus taught them to pray this way before His death. But His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension ushered in a new dispensation.
In this new order, we don’t pray like the Jews of the Old Testament. As new creatures in Christ, we have been endowed with His power and authority to call things into existence and receive what we desire. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus said:
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.‘”
Now, in His Name, we have dominion over principalities and powers of darkness, and our needs are met. We don’t need to ask God, “Give us this day our daily bread.” We simply claim our daily bread because we already have it! From now on, we don’t ask for our needs to be met; we simply declare that our needs are met.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Here, Jesus is saying, “Let me be the Lord of your life.” In the New Testament, “Lord” doesn’t just mean ‘leader’; it also means “the one who provides bread,” the protector, and the one who takes care of you. He also says, “Take my yoke, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” He is letting you know that He leads you in a very simple way. The responsibilities He gives you are straightforward and easy.
The Apostle John says God’s commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3); the simplicity of the Gospel is proof that it comes from God. Think about it: How were all the sins you committed since birth forgiven?
No matter how numerous or terrible they were, all it took was for you to say, “I receive Jesus as Lord of my life,” and all those sins disappeared from your life in an instant, just like that!
