God’s Standard for Measuring Good Thoughts
God has not only commanded us to stand guard at the door of our hearts and block access to anything that should not enter, but He has also shown us exactly how to establish this guard at the level of our minds by choosing which thoughts to allow through. In other words, He hasn’t just told us to renew our minds without showing us how to do it.
He has indicated the files to delete from our minds and the new ones to download as replacements.
“Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report” (Philippians 4:8).
Have you noticed that negative thoughts can reshape your face and make you look older than your age? This is why some people seem ten years older than they actually are!
You arrive at the office and find colleagues gathered, gossiping about another coworker. You pull up a chair and join the conversation. After all that, you wonder why you’re unhappy, stuck in a loop, or making one step forward and two steps back. Well, it’s because you’ve dwelled on things that don’t deserve approval!
God’s Word has shown you what should occupy your thoughts as His child. It says your thoughts should be HONEST, JUST, PURE, LOVELY, COMMENDABLE, VIRTUOUS, and PRAISEWORTHY. However, you may hear something that seems honest or true but is neither lovely nor commendable; don’t dwell on it, because it doesn’t meet God’s standard for acceptable thoughts.
Some people like to focus their minds on news or information that isn’t commendable; worse still, they influence others to join them, forming a “Grumbling Club.” Refuse to become their garbage dump.
I believe you want to have a successful and brilliant life, marked by exceptional results and memorable achievements. To achieve this, you cannot afford to have a small mind or limited thinking. When you have great things to accomplish and a world to conquer, you cannot afford to focus on trivialities and worldly distractions.
