HAVE YOU BEEN ACCUSED?
An Encouragement from Pastor Michael Lebeau for You
What a painful feeling it is to be accused by others, especially by those we love. A son accuses his mother of being responsible for his failures, a father accuses his son of being good for nothing, a wife accuses her husband of their financial struggles, an employer accuses his employee of lacking productivity… Every day, we are subject to the accusations of others.
How many children, now adults, suffer today because of all the blame they endured from their parents, teachers, or peers? They enter adulthood with their backs full of arrows, resigned to carrying the false labels others have placed on them. They forget that the one behind these labels is not God, but the prince of this world—Satan—whom the Bible calls the accuser of the brethren.
Accusation is one of Satan’s main hidden weapons, through which he sends his lies to destroy your self-esteem, intimidate you, paralyze you, annihilate you, rob you, destroy you, and slaughter you.
Have you ever asked yourself these questions: What if the person you have become today is the result of false accusations you believed? What if the image you have of yourself is only a reflection of the devil’s lies that you accepted as truth?
The Bible teaches that “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” In other words, what you think about yourself determines your actions and how you live. Is it possible that the accusations of others have wounded and diminished you to the point of paralyzing you, aborting your destiny, or extinguishing the dream that God placed in you? What image do you have of yourself?
If the image you have of yourself is bright and beautiful, it means your soul has been nourished by the truth of God’s Word about you. However, if your self-image is gloomy and dark, it is likely because you have allowed the devil’s false accusations to pollute your thoughts.
I, too, have been accused many times… Some accusations were unfounded, while others were tied to mistakes I made unintentionally. Unfortunately, the carnal man takes pleasure in bringing others down to elevate himself. He enjoys mocking others and passing judgment based on hearsay. But Jesus never lowers us—He does not break a bruised reed; rather, He restores it and brings it back to life.
Several years ago, after making an error in discernment, Satan exposed me, and I was accused of being something I was not. It was the greatest humiliation of my life. One of the people I esteemed most said to me, “You have shamed us!” Oh! How painful it was. I spent several days alone in my room, crying. I did nothing. I did not even speak to God. I had disqualified myself because I believed I deserved the accusations made against me! In that moment of depression, I uttered words to God that I deeply regret:
“I will never serve You again. I am not worthy of You. I will no longer preach Your Word! I will go into business, make money, and fund ministries, but I will never serve You again!”
If the devil had heard that, he would have shouted in victory, thinking: “Yes! I have destroyed Michael with my false accusations! Another one has fallen for my trap!”
What a subtle and devastating weapon accusations are! They come from the mouths of others, enter our thoughts, and once we accept them, they push us toward self-destruction. We disqualify ourselves. We lose our dignity. We lose our self-esteem. We lose our worth… all because we choose to believe accusatory thoughts!
How many people have disqualified themselves, distanced themselves from God’s presence, and abandoned ministry because they believed they were not good enough for God to use them?
A few days later, as I remained trapped in my thoughts, still in that same room, I heard God’s voice strike my spirit like lightning hitting a tree:
“My son, if you take any path other than preaching the Gospel and divine healing, My hand will be against you, and you will find neither peace nor rest until you return to Me!“
That Word instantly healed me! I collapsed in tears, overwhelmed by this message from the Lord. He did not judge me for my mistakes but instead demonstrated His perfect love: He had not disqualified me—He still wanted me to serve Him. At that moment, I experienced what Scripture declares: “He sent His word and healed them.“ (Psalm 107:20)
He sent His word, and His word healed my soul.
Remember the apostle Peter, who denied Jesus three times. He, too, wept bitterly because he had allowed himself to be accused by his own thoughts:
“You are not worthy of Jesus.”
“You no longer deserve to be His disciple.”
“You are just a poor fisherman.”
“Go back to your old life.”
“The Master will never forgive you.”
Days later, Jesus met Peter and, with a simple phrase, healed his broken heart:
“If you love Me, Peter, then take care of My sheep.“ (John 21:17)
With these words, Jesus showed Peter that He had not disqualified him—He still believed in him.
Remember also the woman caught in adultery, whom the religious leaders accused. Jesus said to her:
“Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.“ (John 8:11)
Dear reader, if you, too, have disqualified yourself because of accusations you believed, know that Jesus does not condemn you—He does not disqualify you! Since your Creator, the Judge of the living and the dead, the Son of God Himself, does not accuse you, then who can?
Starting today, you must reject these false accusations. No, the Lord is not finished with you! Your God loves you unconditionally, and Satan is a liar! The only thing that remains true is what God says about you!
