Honor is your inheritance in Christ. You have been called to honor, not to shame. The time for your honor has finally come. But what is the key to accessing it?

Although it is yours through redemption, you cannot enjoy it without the proper key in your hands. You will only watch others benefit from it without tasting its fruits if you do not have the key that grants you access to honor. The Lord has given you the key to honor in 1 Samuel 2:30:

Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.’

“I will honor those who honor me.” That is the key to benefit from your inheritance of honor in Christ. God had earlier planned to honor Eli’s house with His priesthood. But Eli’s children dishonored God, and He decided to withdraw His honor from that house. Only those who truly honor God are eligible for His honor. Those who dishonor Him by straying far from Him willingly, step into shame and reproach. Those who trample on the Church board the plane of shame and desolation. See what He says here:

The Lord says: ‘These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught. Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder; the wisdom of the wise will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.'” Isaiah 29:13-14

Do you honor God? Those who do not honor God and His kingdom do not deserve His honor. Do you honor Him from your heart? When you sit in His presence, do you feel like you are in the presence of an ordinary person? Do you leave His presence casually? Are you not afraid to steal in the Church?

When I was growing up, if we found a pen that did not belong to us in the church, we would place it on the pulpit. We did not take it home! But what do we have today? People even pilfer wallets from others in the church! That is why shame and its corollaries continue to drag them in the dust all their lives. The presence of God requires no reverence from them!

God said, “I will honor those who honor me, and I will despise those who despise me!” If you do not want your honor to turn into shame, review your behavior. Honor does not come through prayer. You plant a seed of honor to be worthy of receiving a harvest of honor. So, honor Him with all your heart, not just with your lips.
