HOW TO MEDITATE ON THE WORD OF GOD?
First, understand that it is essential to begin with prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit for assistance because you cannot and will not be able to understand the Word of God without the help of the Holy Spirit. Then, read and reread the passage you wish to meditate on several times to grasp its meaning and have it clearly in your mind.
Next, pay attention to the meaning of the words, the verb tenses, and the context of the passage; nothing should escape your attention. Afterward, question the text. Here are some suggestions for questions you might attempt to answer:
What does this passage teach us about the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit?
Is there an example to follow or avoid?
Is there a command I should obey or an invitation to change my way of thinking or acting?
Is there an encouragement or promise I can claim? Finally, end your meditation by responding to the Word of God because if God speaks to you, He also expects a response from you: through praise, prayer, commitment, thanksgiving, etc.
Learning to Listen to the Word of God
With our physical ears, we can continuously listen to the Word of God, always being in a state of perpetual listening to what God is saying. For example, you can play Bible CDs in your car, listen to the Word of God in your room before sleeping; indeed, what you listen to is sown into your spirit without you even realizing it.
However, it is necessary that you hear the Word with a good heart; at some point, you will bear fruit, you will become supernatural.
Practicing the Word in Your Life
“What you have learned, received, and heard from me, and seen in me—put it into practice.” Philippians 4:9
The strength and power of the Word lie in putting it into practice; let us not be diligent readers without applying and seeing what the Lord tells us come to pass. Faith that never fails is expressed in practice, but to reach such a level of faith, the Word of God must become a practical reality in our lives. We should not just read it; we must also live it.
Everything written in the Bible is true; all the events of the Old Testament are real: the Garden of Eden truly existed, the prophets and all the miracles performed indeed happened. So when the Bible tells me that “my God will meet all my needs,” He truly will. The Word must become practical in our lives. Through it, we must also accomplish good works; we must put into practice everything we see Jesus Christ do in the Word.
Practicing the Word is obedience to God. Only those who live and practice His Word are friends of God.
Sharing the Word
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19
When you share what you receive, you undoubtedly grow; the more you give what you have received, the more God gives you in return. Thus, you will grow in the Word if you learn to share it. In other words, if you don’t like to speak, if you don’t like to explain, God will not be able to teach you, and you will wither spiritually.
If you understand this, evangelizing and talking about Jesus will no longer be a burden for you. We now come to the end of our second chapter, where we have thoroughly explored how our faith in God can grow. Throughout this book, I personally want to guide you, with God’s help, to build an unshakable faith.
Many have been defeated because of their weak and natural faith; it is not normal to know God, be His child, and continue to be influenced by the works of the devil. This is why it was important for me to first discuss the tripartite nature of man, so that we may understand that the starting point or growth of our faith begins in the spirit of man.
From there, we now understand the process needed to awaken the spiritual man endowed with a faith that never fails…
