LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF GOD. Saturday, November 2.
Hearing is essential for all humans. For example, you will immediately know that you need to move aside from the road when you hear a car horn behind you. Beyond physical hearing, it is also crucial for believers to hear God as our memorized verse states.
With my background as a mathematician, I have learned to delve into things that are not obvious. For instance, many Christians overlook the fact that Elisha and Elijah were talking as they walked together in 2 Kings 2:11. When I studied this portion of the Scriptures, I wondered about the topic of their conversation. Also, in Daniel 3, when the three Hebrews were with the fourth man in the fire, what were they talking about? What was Jesus discussing in Matthew 17:1-9? What was so crucial for them to descend from heaven to converse with Jesus?
In 2 Corinthians 12:1-4, Paul mentions hearing words that were not lawful for a man to hear. What were these words? In Revelation 10:4, John heard certain things and wanted to write them down, but the angel told him they should not be written; they were only for his ears. What did he hear? I am truly curious about these conversations and many others.
God created the world with words. Words are very powerful, especially when they are from God. The Bible says that the entrance of His word always brings light to the hearer and situations (Psalm 119:130). You cannot live an effective Christian life if you do not hear the voice of God (John 11:40). However, this faith comes by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17). Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.” The question is: how to receive the word of God?
To effectively receive the word of God, make sure nothing distracts you, and you are fully focused on listening to His word. Stay away from distractions so that you can hear exactly what God wants to tell you at that moment. Also, pray that God opens your spiritual ears so that you can understand what is being said.
In Revelation 2:29, the Bible says that those who have ears should hear what the Spirit is saying. You have spiritual ears; make sure they are not deaf to what the Spirit of God has to tell you at any given moment.
