My People Are Responsible For Their Lack Of Knowledge
In the book of Hosea, which we referenced earlier, the Lord did not just observe that His people were perishing because of a lack of knowledge. The Lord made it clear that the people themselves had chosen to remain ignorant. Unfortunately, this choice will have very severe consequences.
“…Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” Hosea 4:6
I was very surprised to learn that the Lord considers the lack of knowledge as the result of a personal choice. One who does not know is not a victim of ignorance. It is someone who has deliberately chosen to reject the knowledge that is readily available to all at all times.
“Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud.” Proverbs 8:1-3
If wisdom and understanding make enough noise to attract the attention of every human being, it clearly means that those who do not hear are the ones who have closed their ears. They have chosen not to hear. They have chosen the ignorance that leads to death. When I didn’t understand these truths, I used to view some poor countries as victims of rich countries.
I eventually understood, through the aforementioned texts, that some poor countries, for example, have chosen to remain ignorant regarding the transformation of their raw materials. The knowledge that allows for the addition of value to these raw materials is accessible to all who decide to seek it.
The fact that knowledge is available to anyone who seeks it is reminded to us in the Holy Scriptures, specifically in the book of Proverbs and the Gospel of Matthew.
“I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.” Proverbs 8:17
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
If countries rich in raw materials fail to transform their products to gain more profits, it is simply because they have chosen to remain ignorant. This statement may seem unfair, but it is the truth. If these countries decide today to invest a lot of time and money in research, they will certainly find solutions.
We must recognize that most of the problems we face today are related to our lack of knowledge. Financial difficulties, for example, demonstrate our lack of knowledge in financial management.
Most people who struggle to live a happy and fulfilling marriage lack knowledge about marriage, its purpose, and the means to make it work optimally…
