OPPRESSION, OBSESSION, AND POSSESSION
As you can see, there is a world of difference between oppression, obsession, and possession. For twenty years, this woman had served in ministry alongside her husband. She was not a baby Christian. At first, she was oppressed and obsessed, but when, as a mature Christian, she willfully and deliberately denied Christ, she became possessed by that demon—by her own permission. The moment she denied Christ, she ceased to be a Christian.
I said to Jesus, “Lord, why are You showing me this? Do You want me to cast this demon out?”
He answered, “No, you cannot. No one can, because she doesn’t want him gone. She wants him to stay. No one—not you, not the elders of the church, not other believers—no one can exercise authority over the human spirit. When I was on Earth, I exercised authority over evil spirits, but not over the human spirit.
Even God the Father cannot exercise authority over the human will. ‘I exercised authority over evil spirits and demons,’ Jesus told me. ‘In the Church, believers can exercise their authority over evil spirits and demons. But if a human spirit wants things to remain as they are, there is nothing that can be done. Things will stay the same. If this woman wants to keep that demon, so be it, and you will not be able to cast him out.
‘My Word declares: “…whoever WILLS, let him take the water of life freely,” and “…CHOOSE this day whom you will serve…”’ (Revelation 22:17; Joshua 24:15). God does not go against the human will.”
Jesus further explained: “Before this woman denied Christ, if she had wanted to be delivered, I could have set her free and cast those spirits from her body or soul in the name of Jesus. She could have even cast the demon out herself at any time. But because she did not want deliverance, no one could do anything for her.
Of course, after this mature Christian denied Christ, it was no longer possible to cast the evil spirit out of her. She had chosen the master she wanted to follow, and she chose the devil (Romans 6:16). God Himself does not exercise authority over the individual will. If they want to think Satan’s thoughts and follow him—
God will not override their will, and neither can you. You cannot force people to think in line with the Word of God, nor compel them to desire what God has in store for them if they don’t want it. You can’t push them to desire the Holy Spirit instead of evil spirits.
We can teach people what God’s Word says, encourage them to believe it and walk in line with it, but we cannot force them to do anything.
The Unforgivable Sin – The Sin Leading to Death
When I asked Jesus, “Do You want me to pray for this woman?”
He replied, “No, do not pray for her.”
That response shocked me. I had never heard that we shouldn’t pray for someone. I always stick strictly to the Word. If someone tells me something—no matter who they are—I want to see if what they’re saying is in the Word. I said to Jesus, “Why, Lord? I’ve never heard anything like that. Is it scriptural?”
He continued, “Have you never read in My Word: ‘If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. THERE IS A SIN THAT LEADS TO DEATH, AND I AM NOT SAYING THAT YOU SHOULD PRAY ABOUT THAT.’” (1 John 5:16)
Jesus added: “There is a sin that leads to death, and the Word says not to pray for those who commit it.”
There is no way to know whether a person has committed the sin leading to death unless God reveals it by divine revelation. Three times during my ministry, the Lord told me not to pray for a particular person because they had committed the sin that leads to death. This woman was the first.
Jesus told me not to pray for her because she had committed that sin—the one that leads to death. I told the Lord I wasn’t satisfied: “I will not accept any vision or experience, even if I see You, Jesus, unless what You say can be proven by the New Testament. I will not accept a single word You say unless You give me another passage that shows I shouldn’t pray for this woman.”
I reminded Him of what His Word says: “…every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.” (Matthew 18:16)
He then gave me the following scriptures and explained them to me:
“For it is impossible for those who were once ENLIGHTENED, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who were PARTAKERS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, and have tasted the GOOD WORD OF GOD and the POWERS OF THE AGE TO COME, if they fall away, to be renewed again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.” — HEBREWS 6:4-6
Jesus explained that before a Christian could be guilty of the sin that leads to death, all five conditions listed in that passage must apply to them.
First, it says: “For those who were once enlightened… it is impossible…” (Hebrews 6:4). Jesus told me that this refers to what many of us call “being under conviction.” The preaching of the Word enlightens the sinner. That was the case of the prodigal son who “came to himself” (Luke 15:17). Through the preaching of God’s Word, the sinner realizes that he is lost…
