The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. — Psalm 147:11

There is an English brand whose slogan for its social and environmental campaign is: “Plan A, because there is no Plan B.”
Do you often have a Plan B, or are you the kind of person who waits on God?

The psalmist tells us in the verse before the one we are meditating on that God does not delight in the strength of a man, meaning in human ability. Yet we often like to say, “Help yourself and heaven (God) will help you,” as if God takes pleasure in our ability to help ourselves.

It is important to understand that God did not create us to be independent from Him, but rather to grow by depending on Him. Of course, God won’t come and clean your house for you, but He does want you to turn to Him in order to better organize your time and manage your resources to face your responsibilities.

He says, Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help.” He is offended that His people do not call on Him. To King Saul, He reproaches having become too self-important, to the point of making decisions without God. In contrast, He rushes to help and give rest to all those who wait for Him.

God is infinitely good, and He wants to cover you with all His goodness—but He asks one thing: that you live each day expecting His grace, hoping daily in His goodness, for it is renewed every morning for you and me.

Action of the Day:
Pride is thinking you can accomplish something without God. It is also another form of unbelief. Today, do not rely on your intelligence, your connections, or your resources—whatever they may be. Trust in God. That is the key to success.

Let us pray:
Father, I know that it’s hard for me to completely trust You, but I still want to take this step of faith, knowing that You are good and that Your desire is for me to depend on You. Thank You for giving me the strength and wisdom to rely on You in everything and at all times…
