Peripheral Vision.
When the Holy Spirit released the word “seer’s upgrade,” I entered a distinct visual improvement: I began to see in the spirit peripherally. Call it an extended supernatural peripheral vision. I saw people coming from my right or left just before their arrival. I looked up a few seconds before they entered my natural view. I sensed them coming.
Also called side vision, peripheral vision is the ability to see what is on either side of you while you look straight ahead. While our natural vision is strongest looking forward, God can open the periphery in the spirit to the eyes of our hearts. In other words, He can enable our spiritual eyes to see at angles that our natural eyes cannot reach.
Powerful seers who cultivate and dedicate their supernatural sight will see with strong peripheral vision. During my school of prophets and seers in London, I heard the Lord say: “I am giving My seers peripheral vision. I am removing the blinders that religion has placed on either side. And you will begin to see even with 360-degree vision. You will see what is happening behind you – those who came with knives to stab you in the back – and you will turn and face them in My name. For I give My seers peripheral vision. You will see to the left and you will see to the right. You will even see from behind with a 360-degree view. When you look at Me, this is what you will see.
Peripheral vision allows you to see things you are not directly looking at. You can see to the side without ever turning your head. Some call it “seeing out of the corner of your eye.” Just as peripheral vision is important in natural dimensions which is why your eye doctor tests for it – it is important for your spiritual vision in the dimensions of a seer.
Removing the Blinders
In the prophetic word that God spoke, God says He is removing the blinders. What are these blinders? When you were saved, the blinders of Satan were removed from your eyes, but there are activities that will pollute, darken, or even blind your seer eyes. If you have stopped seeing in the spirit as you once did, it is possible that your eyes have been partially blinded by a religious spirit.
The first trap is poor focus. In Matthew 6:22-23 (NLT), Jesus said: “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!“
God is light. When our eye is healthy, when we take care of our spiritual eyes and refuse to look at things that will pollute us, our whole body is full of light. If you want to see accurately in the spirit, you must guard your eye gates. I love The Passion Translation of this verse: “The eyes of your spirit allow revelation-light to enter into your being. If your heart is unclouded, the light floods in! But if your eyes are focused on money, the light cannot penetrate and darkness takes its place. How profound will be the darkness within you if the light of truth cannot enter!”
Beware of a Critical Spirit
Judgment and criticism will blind, at least partially, your seeing eyes. Consider Christ’s words in Matthew 7:1-5:
“Do not judge, criticize, and condemn others, so that you may not be judged, criticized, and condemned yourselves. For just as you judge, criticize, and condemn others, you will be judged, criticized, and condemned, and in accordance with the measure you use [to deal out to others], it will be dealt out again to you. Why do you stare from without at the very small particle that is in your brother’s eye but do not become aware of and consider the beam of timber that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, Let me get the tiny particle out of your eye, when there is the beam of timber in your own eye? You hypocrite, first get the beam of timber out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the tiny particle out of your brother’s eye.”
Can you see the direct correlation between judgment and obstructed vision? Notice that the one with the critical spirit looks at a very small particle in his brother’s eye. If you have ever had an irritant in your eye, you know how difficult it can be to locate it.
The implication here is that the judge magnifies something small into a big issue instead of walking in love and covering it, praying about it, or speaking a kind word of correction in God’s grace. This hypocrisy causes a major blind spot in your spiritual vision. Some translations call the beam of timber a telephone pole. Can you imagine seeing anything with a telephone pole sticking out of your eye?
Seers and prophets see things that others do not. This does not give the right to criticize or judge; it gives the responsibility to pray. God does not show you someone’s faults so you can condemn them but so you can intercede. God is love and sees through eyes of love, even when He sees our faults…
