PRAISE AND WORSHIP: STEP #1
“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:19
The first step when you start your prayer time is praise and worship. Depending on your context, you can choose to accompany this moment with instrumental worship music in the background or use headphones if you pray early in the morning, so as not to disturb the sleep of those around you.
As I mentioned earlier, you can also dedicate this moment during the day, for example, during your lunch break at work. With your headphones on, no one will suspect that you are in a moment of praise and worship.
Once this conducive environment is established, you can begin to write down your praises to God in your journal. Here is an example to inspire you, the kind of text I personally write:
Dear Heavenly Father, I just want to worship You this morning, to offer You the praise You deserve.
You are so wonderful, and this morning, I want to express all my love for You.
You are the center of everything, the object of my worship.
You are worthy of being adored. In spirit and in truth, I want to enter Your courts with the praise of my heart.
You are the King of kings, no one is comparable to You. Let Your praises be in my mouth, honor and glory to Your holy name….
It is so simple and powerful at the same time. Imagine writing texts to God like these, accompanied by inspiring music in your ears… I assure you that the spiritual fire will quickly take hold of you and ignite you! Depending on the time you have, the flow, and the inspiration of the moment, you can write, write, and write again.
However, at the beginning, I recommend going through the entire plan without lingering excessively at each step, in order to evaluate the time needed to complete the whole. Afterwards, you can adjust your schedule accordingly. What is remarkable about this method is the flexibility it offers: you can start your day with a twenty or thirty-minute session in the morning, and if time is short, why not continue later in the day?
Thus, you can dedicate several moments to God throughout the same day. In all this, it is essential to remember that this approach is by no means rigid; it cannot be followed quickly and inflexibly. No, absolutely not! On the contrary, it must be imbued with flexibility and adaptability, for life itself is dynamic and constantly evolving. Our circumstances change, and with them, our organization…
This is essential to prevent this practice from becoming a burden, a heavy obligation, a routine devoid of heart and meaning. It is crucial to keep the primary and central objective in mind, which remains to live daily special moments with our Lord…
