Being spiritually awake is essential for every believer. When you are spiritually awake, you control situations instead of letting them control you. It is dangerous for a believer to fall into spiritual slumber. The enemies that fight against us do not sleep; they are always alert, seeking the perfect moment to strike. However, an awakened believer will always thwart their attacks.

This is why it is written: Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. (Ephesians 5:14)
A Christian who abandons prayer places themselves on the enemy’s list of easy targets. If your prayer life dies, so does your spiritual life. We cannot afford to live this way—it is perilous. Wake up from your slumber and take responsibility.

When prayer becomes a burden for you, be vigilant, for spiritual slumber is near. When reading and meditating on the Word of God feels unbearable, pay close attention because you are signaling spiritual slumber to the enemy.

A person who sleeps becomes unconscious and thus vulnerable in every way. That is why the Bible advises us to stay alert in prayer. Do not let anything steal your prayer life—not even your work—because your spiritual and physical life depends on it.

And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. (Romans 13:11)

As the Word of God states in this verse, it is truly time to wake up. It is time to say goodbye to slumber and take responsibility in prayer. It is time to bid laziness farewell and assume your spiritual responsibilities. It is time to part with anything that hinders you from igniting the fire of prayer and take spiritual charge.

Stop making excuses and wake up from your slumber. We are not fighting an intellectual devil but a powerful one. He does not care about your arguments; his mission has never changed. He is always ready to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). That is why you need to preserve your spiritual life to prevent him from gaining the upper hand.
