Prayers for His Reputation.
Lord, I pray that (your husband’s name) has a good reputation and that it remains untarnished. I know that a man is often judged “by his reputation” (Proverbs 27:21). Therefore, I pray that you act so that he is respected in our town and that people speak well of him. You have said in your Word: “A curse without cause does not come to rest” (Proverbs 26:2). I pray that there will never be a reason for anyone to speak ill of him.
Keep him from any legal entanglements, from any lawsuits or other criminal proceedings. Deliver him from his enemies, Lord. Defend him against those who would rise up to harm him (Psalm 59:1). Fight those who fight against him (Psalm 35:1).
I put my trust in you, Lord. May we never be put to shame (Psalm 71:1). If you are for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)?
Your Word says: “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire” (Matthew 7:18-19).
I pray that my husband may bear good fruit through the good things within him and be known for the good he does. May the fruits of honesty, loyalty, and humility soften his relationships with others and thus preserve his reputation.
Preserve his life from the enemy, shield him from the schemes of wicked people. Rescue him from the snare that may have been laid for him (Psalm 31:4). Guard him against the gossip of malicious people. Where evil may have been spoken against him, touch the lips of those who uttered it with your purifying fire. May responsibilities be brought to light. May those who seek to destroy him be confounded. May all things contribute to a good reputation in his life.
“Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after (his) life to destroy it! Let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish (him) evil!” Psalm 40:14.
May he trust in you and not fear what man can do to him (Psalm 56:11). For you have said that whoever believes in you will not be put to shame (Romans 10:11). Lead him, guide him, be his fortress and refuge. May his light shine before men, that they may see his good works and glorify you, Lord (Matthew 5:16).
