For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, ‘Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.’” (Romans 10:10-11)

If you believe in Jesus Christ, you should never be ashamed of your faith in God; you can trust Him. That is why you must hold on to the Word of God. If you stand firm in the Word of God, you will emerge victorious no matter what happens to you in this world.

God has already declared you more than a conqueror in this life. The story has already been told, the victors have been named, and you are one of them. Everyone from the lineage you come from succeeded in their time; they were all victors, and you are no different. Study the Word of God and discover your roots.

For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him.” (Romans 10:12)

Call on Him today, and He will answer as He did when Moses, Joshua, and Paul called on Him. His faithfulness endures through all generations (Psalm 119:90). He can be just as faithful to you as He was to Moses. He has declared Himself; why should you fear or feel ashamed? He is the same God who upheld His Word on their behalf, and He will uphold His Word on your behalf today. Never be timid when preaching the gospel. Paul, writing to Timothy, said:

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

Do not fear; God will not let you down. When you stand for Him, He will give you the words to speak. God is ready and willing to work with you and save the people of the world through you.

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

What a declaration! What a guarantee! God is ready to save everyone, and He wants to.

Our Role

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14)

If they have not heard of Him, they cannot believe in Him. We should not expect people to trust in Jesus Christ if they do not know what He has done for them. We must give them the opportunity to hear and believe. We must give them a chance to believe, not only by hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ but also by hearing it clearly.

Do not think that everyone has heard it just because the gospel is preached on television and radio or through ads and newspapers.

Many non-believers have heard the wrong things. A few years ago, I invited a man to church, but he told me he had decided never to go again. In fact, he said the last time he went to church was two years prior. When I asked him why, he explained that he had been going from church to church and eventually ended up in one with his friend, where they were called sinners because they were strangers.

They were called to the front and instructed to lie flat on the ground, which they did. Then they were told that they had sins in their lives for which they needed God’s forgiveness. This meant they had to pay the penalty by receiving several lashes. He said his friend compelled him because he wanted all his sins taken away.

So they began whipping his friend, but before they finished, he escaped through the window! He said he wanted his sins dealt with but didn’t think he could endure the lashes. That was the day he decided never to attend another church service.

This story might seem incredible, but it is true; it is the kind of message he heard. It took a long time to change his perception of Christianity. I had to explain to him that Jesus Christ never intended for things to be like that. Do not assume that everyone has heard the gospel. Many have not heard the true gospel. They have only heard something like this, and it is a lie. A lie is not necessarily the opposite of the truth but a perversion of it.

Initially, it aligns with the truth, but suddenly, it diverges, and many do not realize it. The Apostle Paul asks: “And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14)

Most sinners will not come to church; addicts will not come to church. Prostitutes do not attend church because they rest during the day and work at night. For every person who goes to church, there may be ten thousand others out in the world. Their activities keep them away from church.

So what do we do? Do we pray for God to bring them? No! The Holy Spirit is not a messenger. Some Christians pray, “Holy Spirit, I send you to speak to them.” Who do you think is in charge here? It was He who told Philip, “Go to that chariot.”

Stop praying for God to speak to your friend or touch their heart. Some cite the conversion of Saul of Tarsus, forgetting that Saul needed a man named Ananias. God commanded Ananias to minister to Paul after his encounter with Jesus. God still needed to send a man to Paul to tell him what he must do for Him. God always needs you to be His witness and speak to people on His behalf.
