DO YOU DESPISE THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST?

The most common sin committed in the Church today, often unknowingly, is the sin of despising the Church. It’s important to note that no sin is greater than another because all sin carries equal penalty. Despising the Church can take on two forms: omission and commission. Omission involves neglecting to do something that should have been done, while commission involves doing something that should not have been done.

In 1 Corinthians 11:22, Apostle Paul rebuked the Corinthian Church for their behavior, which was bringing shame to the Church of Jesus Christ. He asked them a question that is still relevant today: do you despise the Church?

To despise something or someone means to regard them as inferior, worthless, contemptible, or unimportant. It involves demeaning, looking down on, belittling, or holding them in low esteem. This attitude makes the object of disdain appear worthless or valueless.

Unfortunately, many people in Christendom today exhibit an astonishing attitude of disdain towards the Church of Jesus Christ. They disrespect the authority that God, as the Head of the Church, has put in place. This disrespectful attitude makes the Church appear powerless, and non-believers mock the institution that is supposed to represent power and governance.

Neglecting to allocate resources to the Church in your monthly budget and failing to participate in its activities are examples of despising the Church. Therefore, it is essential to plan and discipline yourself to be involved in the activities of your local Church, regardless of how busy your schedule may be.

Do you despise the Church of Jesus Christ? The Universal Church of Jesus Christ has, for a long time, focused its message on fornication and adultery because for it, these are more visible sins. During this time, the enemy (Satan) has created another means in order to push the people of God to sin against God the head of the Church without knowing it or without realizing it.

The greatest sin or the most frequent sin that many commit today in the Church without knowing it (no sin is greater than the others, because all sins carry the same penalty), is the sin linked to the contempt of the Church. This question of the contempt of the Church is divided into two parts: <<the sin of omission and that of commission.>>

Omission is to forget (omit), to leave aside, not to do, to neglect to do, to fail to do. Omission simply means non-performance, non-registration, neglect, an obligation not done. The sin of omission and commission combined is leaving undone things that should be done and doing things that should not be done.

In 1 Corinthians 11:22, the apostle Paul rebuked the church at Corinth for their bad behavior that was bringing shame to the church of Jesus Christ and he asked them the same question I would also like to ask you. Do you “despise” the church?

The word “despise” simply means “to regard or label something or someone as inferior, second-hand, unimportant, unworthy, and worthless. To despise is to diminish, belittle, minimize, or give less esteem. This attitude causes the one being targeted to feel as if he or she is of no value or worth.

“Do you despise the church of Jesus Christ?” sheds light on the pitfalls. The attitude of many in Christendom toward the Church of Jesus Christ today is astonishing; they despise the Church and the authority that God, the Head of the Church, has put in place….
