Overview of the book “Following The Path Of The Eagle”.
However, the eagle, which fears nothing and to whom great storms are play things, was not born fearless. It was born an eaglet – weak, fearful and totally dependent on its mother. The ability to be fearless and soar to great heights was in the eaglet, but it took special training from the mother-eagle to make an eagle out of the eaglet. From Deuteronomy 32:9-14, we discover that the Lord led Israel through the wilderness to bring him to the land flowing with milk and honey. This can be likened to how the mother-eagle trains her young ones.
As we all know, a finished product is always a thing of joy to behold. For instance, a finished piece of pottery stands out in beauty; and a fanciful building block is the joy of a builder. These, however, did not fall from heaven; they all had a beginning. They were all raw materials at one point in time that underwent processes, which resulted in their present glorious shapes.
In the same vein, we are raw materials which God moulds lif allowed) into His desired shapes. However, God has given man the right to choose whether to undergo the difficult shaping processes or remain a raw material liable to decay.
The making of a man is in his hands; that is, he must be determined to go through the making processes by himself, not on another person’s back. That is why the Bible says:
“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air”. 1 Corinthians 9:24-26
It is impossible to become a star using another man’s feet, because it is the personal exercises we engage in that determine our efficiency on the racetrack.
Children are born while men are made. Being born again does not make us automatically great. We must work our way up the ladder. God is ready to lead, instruct and bless us but we must “do the climbing”. For instance, even though eagles are born to soar, they are trained to soar.
Training is a lifelong responsibility of every sportsman, if he must remain relevant. Likewise, taking personal responsibility is a daily requirement for any believer to fulfill God’s plan and purpose for his/her life.
The purpose of this book, among others, is to unveil the worth of our destinies in Christ, examine the characteristics of the eagle which helps it to scale great heights and to show how to apply same to our lives as believers, thereby fulfilling our glorious destinies, and soaring like the eagle. As you read this book, God will set your feet on the path of greatness, in Jesus’ name! Remain ever blessed!
