SAMUEL HAD A SPIRITUAL FATHER.
Key Verse: “I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.“ (Matthew 26:29, KJV)
Just like Joshua, Samuel also had a great mission in his life. He was called to be a powerful judge in Israel (1 Sam. 7:15), bridging the gap between Saul and David. The Word of God describes Samuel’s influence in these terms:
“Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.“ (1 Samuel 3:19, ISV)
Pay close attention: it was not the words of the Lord that did not fall to the ground, but those of Samuel. In other words, Samuel had become such a powerful man of God that when he spoke, heaven backed him up. I see heaven backing up your words!
To prepare Samuel for greatness, the first blessing that God granted him was a spiritual father named Eli. Eli often addressed him in these terms: “Samuel, my son!“ (1 Samuel 3:15-16, KJV).
Samuel’s biological father was Elkanah (1 Samuel 1:1, 4, 8). Eli was his spiritual father. It was through him that the grace of greatness flowed into Samuel’s life. I see greatness flowing into your life! The Eli that God has placed over your life must be more than a leader; he must be a father. This is how you will step into your destiny; this is how you will possess your kingdom.
Prayer
Almighty God, who changes hearts, give me today the heart of a son for the glory of Your name. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
