SATAN AS GOD’S INSTRUMENT.
What does all this mean? It means man was created to be the angelic being’s boss. He was created to instruct angels for his own service. The angels were his servants that responded to his every beck and call. To top it all off, he was given a soul, from whence he could choose which servants to activate. He could either choose to activate the angels of light, or he could choose to activate the angels of darkness.
However, whichever choice he made, came with consequences and these consequences were always made clear to him before he acted upon his decision. Take these instances for example; Paul activated Satan for his own use. He knew Satan was an angel of darkness, yet it suited him to activate him for his own purpose. See the verse below :
“For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. “ 1 Corinthians 5:3-5
However, his intentions were noble, his intentions were to get the person to repent and receive salvation. He knew who Satan was and knew that because Satan was an angel, he had the authority to activate him and use him to bring about the salvation of one’s spirit. God also used Satan to achieve His own goals too.
“For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.” Exodus 12:23
This verse shows that it was not God Himself who killed the first born sons of the Egyptians but He used ‘the destroyer’ by allowing him to go in and manifest his nature of death over the first born sons of the Egyptians. God within Himself, has no ability to strike or kill because He is eternal life. His nature is righteous, pure and holy.
Therefore when He shows up, He manifests life. He therefore required Satan to manifest his nature of death and He used him to remove any obstacle threatening to destroy the lineage of the Israelites, from which the saviour of the whole world was to emanate from, that is, the Lord Jesus Christ. The following is a list of other examples taken from the Scriptures that show us how God used Satan as His instrument, in order to accomplish His perfect will in the earth.
“Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.” Job 1:6-12
“But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.” 1 Samuel 16:14
“And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.” 1 Samuel 18:10
“And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD? And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace. And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil? And he said, Hear thou therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.“ 1 Kings 22:16-23
If Satan was therefore an archangel who rebelled against God, surely now that he had been cast out of Heaven as God’s eternal enemy, he wouldn’t have to obey him anymore. He could have thrived in his rebelliousness, and refused any instruction given by the Lord, since he had done it before. However, the above Scriptures clearly show that in all these verses, Satan was used as God’s instrument to accomplish whatsoever God desired.
This shows us that throughout the ages, God allowed Satan, meaning, He gave Satan permission to go in and manifest his nature, which is death; towards anyone who tried to use wickedness to abort God’s perfect will concerning His purposes and plans for mankind…
