SATAN HATES MARRIAGE WITH A PASSION.
A prosperous, successful, honey-filled Christian marriage is one of the greatest threats to Satan and his cohorts. Satan is extremely jealous of Spirit-filled marriages. It captures his attention and provokes him to create all kinds of confusion, misunderstanding, and even separation or divorce. When Adam was alone in the Garden of Eden and controlled everything on earth, Satan was silent. Satan did not show himself until Adam married Eve, his dear wife. There was something about the woman and marriage that drove Satan out of hiding.
Have you ever wondered why your own marriage and those around you go through so many attacks? Have you wondered why there is so much confusion, misunderstanding, misinterpretation, provocation, and sorrow in many marriages today? Have you ever imagined why the rate of divorce and separation keeps increasing year after year in the world and in the Church?
The institution of marriage has never been attacked, criticized, and pressured like it is in our time. The sole reason for all of this is that Satan hates marriage with a passion. Several Scriptures show that Satan hates marriage. Let’s discover a few:
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” Hebrews 13:4
Marriage brings honor and even more when it is pure and not defiled by adultery. The devil wants to bring dishonor by attacking marriage.
“He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22
The devil does not want anyone to find good things and obtain favor in the eyes of God. God’s favor brings blessings, prosperity, and protection, but all this destabilizes Satan’s agenda.
“Two are better than one,” Ecclesiastes 4:9
“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.” Matthew 18:19
When husband and wife are united in prayer or in agreement, nothing will be impossible for them. But all of this is terrifying and too powerful for the devil to handle. He knows the power of agreement, which is a threat to his kingdom and plans. This leads him to fight against harmony in marriage by bringing about situations that make any agreement that could disrupt his kingdom impossible.
“Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring.” Malachi 2:15
The devil does not want a godly progeny that obeys and perpetuates the covenant and the things of God. He wants illegitimate children.
“I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20
The Scriptures say, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Whenever the husband, wife, and family gather in the Name of the Lord, God comes among them, and the devil cannot stand it. The family is the first church that must be strongly built so that peace reigns in our homes and even in society.
“Woe to the one who falls and has no one to help them up.”
Marriage makes you complete and surrounds you with assistance, and it is only through marriage that we can legitimately fulfill this command: be fruitful and multiply. The devil wants you to walk alone, whether you are married or not. Marriage offers companionship. The devil wants you to walk alone so that when you fall, there is no one to encourage or lift you up, no one to stoke the flame when you are cold.
The devil brings confusion into marriages, leading men to mistreat their wives and vice versa. And when such a situation occurs, the man’s prayers are hindered (1 Peter 3:7). He also uses premature exposure to grasp and put the marriage in bondage…
