Jesus said, “I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the foundation of the world” (Matthew 13:35).

Jesus used parables to illustrate the dynamics of the Kingdom. The Holy Spirit often uses visual parables to show us truth in the dimensions of the seer. Consider the conversation between Jeremiah and God in Jeremiah 1:

The word of the Lord came to me again: ‘What do you see?’ And I said, ‘I see a boiling pot, and it is facing away from the north.’ Then the Lord said to me: ‘Out of the north calamity shall break forth on all the inhabitants of the land.’

God could have simply told Jeremiah this from the start, but He chose to first give him a parabolic vision that illustrated the intensity of His message. Even today, the Holy Spirit speaks to seers in this manner. There are many parables in the Bible with which you can practice parabolic vision. Meditate on them to activate your parabolic vision. In some cases, you will need to take out your Bible to read the entire reference.

Seeing What Defiles a Person

In the parable of the man in Mark 7:14-23, Jesus says:

Listen to me, everyone, and understand: There is nothing outside a person that can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them. If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.” After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, show me what has defiled someone, or what has defiled me. Show me what comes out of a person’s heart that defiles their personality and hinders their destiny so that I can intercede.

You should start by looking at your own heart. But you can also look at Hollywood actors or pop stars who do not know the Lord from the privacy of your own home. Listen to their words to see the spirit that defiles their heart. Then, pray for them.

Seeing the Signs of the Times

In the parable of the budding fig tree in Mark 13:28-33, Jesus says:

Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.

Pray this prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to see the signs of the times through natural phenomena. Show me how creation groans as in the pains of childbirth according to Romans 8:22. Help me to understand what I see and to pray for your will to be done perfectly. Of course, no one knows when Christ will return, but as a seer, God can speak to you through nature about the nearness of the hour.

Seeing the Parable of Satan as a Roaring Lion

Peter used a parable regarding the enemy. In 1 Peter 5:8 (AMPC), he writes:

Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.

Pray this prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, show me where the enemy prowls and whom he seeks to devour. Show me the devil’s devices and schemes before they come to fruition so that I can thwart the enemy through prophetic intercession using the Amos anointing…
