STEPS TO TAKE AFTER THE NEW BIRTH.
After the New Birth, your spiritual life must learn to grow step by step, and this requires a responsibility on your part to achieve it.
A Christian who does not grow is worse than a pagan (1 Peter 2:2-6). The Word of God exhorts us to walk in a manner worthy of the calling we have received (Ephesians 4:1).
Never remain on milk; you need solid food to grow, just like any newborn who eventually desires to eat like an adult (Hebrews 5:12-14).
In general, there are two key elements that can help you grow in the Spirit:
- The Word of God – Romans 10:17, Colossians 3:16
- Prayer in the Spirit – Jude 20
The Role of the Word of God (Romans 12:1-2)
It works on your mind to give you the thoughts of God. This role can be fulfilled through daily Bible reading, meditation on the Scriptures (Joshua 1:8), inspired messages, reading spiritual books, and personal Bible study (1 Timothy 4:11-13).
Proclaim the Word by preaching, exhorting, and instructing (2 Timothy 4:2).
Note: After taking all these steps, never forget your body, which is not transformed by the Word but remains your responsibility to bring under the control of the Spirit.
“But I discipline my body and keep it under control…“ (1 Corinthians 9:27)
What GOD calls each person to do is take control of their body. The Bible teaches us to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice (Romans 12).
We face great danger if we do not submit our bodies to the control of the Holy Spirit. “For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” (Romans 8:13)
Therefore, never put your trust in the flesh (Philippians 3:3).
Let us learn to subdue the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21), for they are with us daily. Jesus crucified the flesh, and sin shall have no power over us.
Refuse to give the enemy access and flee temptation…
