STRUCTURE OF THE BIBLE.
The Bible is the oldest book, yet always new and recent, and still the most widespread and best-selling book in the world. Many of the Bible’s prophecies about the coming of Jesus Christ have been fulfilled, and every day they continue to be fulfilled. God’s integrity is engaged in fulfilling everything His Word declares.
The promises have no choice but to be fulfilled when the time comes because His Word is forever established in the heavens (Psalm 119:89). His Word cannot be nullified (John 10:35); therefore, whether man wills it or not, it will come to pass.
Example: Jesus Christ is the Word of God; He is the central figure of the Bible. Many verses confirm this (Revelation 19:13).
The Bible is the Word of God; it contains revelations about God, speaks about life, salvation (being saved), the Church, the end times, hell, and paradise. Through the Bible, God has revealed Himself to people in various ways. Let us read the passages and define the ways in which He has revealed Himself: Romans 1:20; Romans 2:14-15; John 1:1-18; John 17:6.
a) Bibliographic Aspect: Its Composition or Structure.
2 Peter 1:20-21 – “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
b) 1 Corinthians 2:10
The Bible consists of 66 books, divided into two major volumes: the Old Testament and the New Testament.
c) The Old Testament.
This does not mean it is outdated or no longer valid due to the New Testament, as one might interpret naturally. The New Testament is merely a continuation of the Old Testament. The Old Testament contains 39 books, while the New Testament contains 27 books.
1- The Old Testament
The 39 books recount the history of the nation of Israel, from creation to the return of the people of Israel from Babylonian exile. After many years of exile, the 39 books of the Old Testament are divided into four sections:
a) The Books of the Law (Torah)
b) The Historical Books
c) The Poetic Books
d) The Prophetic Books
2- The New Testament
It tells of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ up to His ascension, as well as the period from His birth to the end of the 1st century. It is divided into four sections:
a) The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John)
b) The Historical Book
c) The Epistles of Paul and the Epistles written by others
d) The Prophetic Book (Revelation)
All the books of both the Old and New Testaments were carefully chosen, sorted, classified, compiled, and officially accepted through a system called the Canon of Scripture. This was accomplished by men inspired by God, based on the authenticity, originality, and power of the books. During His earthly ministry, our Lord Jesus Christ also referred to them as examples…
