THE AGENTS OF SIN.
From examples taken from the Scriptures, I have identified three traps that the enemy has set against the Church in the last days. This is seen in 2 Timothy 3:1-5:
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.“
The enemy will bring all these things, which we can categorize into three, with the sole purpose of defiling the saints. These are mainly traps through which the enemy has planned to destroy great destinies.
- Immorality
- Financial corruption
- Rebellion
Immorality
Sin is not just “sin.” It can be classified into grades and categories. When Israel left Egypt and journeyed to the Promised Land, the greatest number of those who perished in the wilderness did so because of sexual immorality. Paul, in his letters, tells us that 23,000 men perished in a single day because of fornication (1 Corinthians 10:8).
According to biblical records, this represents the greatest human disaster ever reported during their journey to Canaan. Immorality will take hold of the people of God in these last days. It is therefore important to choose today where you want to stand.
Samson, the strength of all Israel in his time, fell as a result of immorality. He was a heavenly treasure on earth, but he was reduced to a mere plaything. He was God’s gift but became a curse on earth, all because of immorality! Samson lost his enviable throne because of a woman. The Philistines gouged out his eyes and made him dance the dance of the Israelites among the sinners (Judges 16), all because of the trap of immorality! If you are a captive of this sin, my prayer is that today marks the end of sins related to sex and immorality in your life, in Jesus’ name! You are now free from this captivity, to walk in the newness of life!
Sexual immorality is a powerful weapon used by the enemy. With it, he has destroyed many glorious destinies. Yours will not be next on the list, in Jesus’ Name.
“For she has cast down many wounded, and all who were slain by her were strong men.” Proverbs 7:26
“Will someone take fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? Will someone walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.” Proverbs 6:27-29
Abandon immorality, or it will bring you down! A multitude is awaiting your manifestation. Will you abandon your throne for a sin? Immorality will make you weep in the end, when your muscles and body are consumed by AIDS, cancer, gonorrhea, etc. (Proverbs 5:11).
Many men are dying as slaves today because immorality has not yet been arrested in their lives. It is better to be impotent than to lose heaven because of sexual immorality. It is better to be sexually dead than to be alive in the flesh and dead in spirit. It is better to live naked and guarantee the path to heaven than to live in a fake castle and end up in the pit of hell!
Why would you destroy your life in the trap of Delilah when the whole world is awaiting your manifestation? What you have seen until today was mere amusement: There is one who has sworn to finish you and kill you. So, run!
Do you remember the giant from Tommy Hicks’ prophecy? He rose and shook off all the debris and dirt from his body. You can do the same.
“Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.” 1 John 3:3
Purify yourself from the sin of sexual immorality to be able to walk in newness of life. When the Bible speaks of the sin that leads to death, we quickly understand that no other sin killed as many among the people of God in the wilderness as fornication and immorality: twenty-three thousand people in one day! The mercy of God had reached its limit! The Apostle Paul said:
“If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.” 1 Corinthians 3:17
I may not know the sin leading to death, but I know one that kills men in masses. The next immorality you engage in after reading these lines could lead you to AIDS, a destructive and incurable disease that kills. So, beware!
Immorality is a capital sin. It is the most devastating, destructive, and frighteningly effective tool in the hands of the devil because it is so deceitful and provides temporary pleasure. Speaking of Moses, Hebrews 11:25 says that he chose to be mistreated with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.
Sexual pleasure is both delightful and destructive…
“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you” (Ephesians 5:14).
Financial Corruption
The other trap of the devil in these last days is the one that claims the second-largest number of lives: the sin of financial corruption.
“Moses stood at the entrance to the camp and said, ‘Whoever is for the Lord, come to me.’ And all the Levites rallied to him. Then he said to them, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.’ The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died.” Exodus 32:26-28
Three thousand men perished in one day because of gold.
“Moses went back to the Lord and said, ‘Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold.‘” Exodus 32:31
Do you remember the story of Gehazi, the servant of Elisha?
“Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself, ‘My master was too easy on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely as the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.’ So Gehazi hurried after Naaman. When Naaman saw him running toward him, he got down from the chariot to meet him. ‘Is everything all right?’ he asked. ‘Everything is all right,’ Gehazi answered. ‘My master sent me to say, “Two young men from the company of the prophets have just come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two sets of clothing.“‘” 2 Kings 5:20-22
See what happened to him after he returned from his greedy journey.
“When he went in and stood before his master, Elisha asked him, ‘Where have you been, Gehazi?’ ‘Your servant didn’t go anywhere,’ Gehazi answered. But Elisha said to him, ‘Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money or to accept clothes—or olive groves and vineyards, or flocks and herds, or male and female slaves? Naaman’s leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever.’ Then Gehazi went from Elisha’s presence and his skin was leprous—it had become as white as snow.” 2 Kings 5:25-27
Why would you carry Naaman’s leprosy when you are destined for Elijah’s double portion of anointing? Why allow greed to bring you leprosy? To escape this trap, listen to what Job said:
“If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold, ‘You are my security,’ if I have rejoiced over my great wealth, the fortune my hands had gained, if I have regarded the sun in its radiance or the moon moving in splendor, and my heart was secretly enticed and my hand offered them a kiss of homage, then these also would be sins to be judged, for I would have been unfaithful to God on high.” Job 31:24-28
The love of money is the root of all evil. As long as the root remains, the tree will continue to bear fruit. As long as the root is not destroyed, there is hope for the tree. Look at what the Bible says in 1 Timothy 6:10:
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.“
The love of money is the root of all evil, and greed gives it full expression. However, verse 11 gives the following advice:
“But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.”
