Many have failed to withstand the vinegar; many have succumbed, and some have even given up and turned to other ways out. Imagine for a moment—you who were accustomed to drinking only wine—suddenly, believing you are drinking wine, you realize it’s actually vinegar in your mouth, and you are forced to consume only that.

A season’s change without warning can create chaos, and many, following this sudden shift, have given up, just like the children of Israel who left Egypt and found themselves facing the harsh reality of the desert, where survival depends solely on God. The story of the children of Israel teaches us what it takes to endure during the vinegar season.

What I love about God is that every time He places us in a situation, He never fails to give us promises—words that drive us not to give up and to place our trust in His word. Obedience, faithfulness, trust, and faith in God are what help us survive during the vinegar season.

It is not always easy to shift from one season to another, but equipping ourselves with things that will help us stand firm is the right position to take during the vinegar season. It is not in God’s interest to see you suffer, especially to see you fall during the vinegar period. Imagine God, confident in Job’s integrity, asking Satan to test him, and Job renouncing Him.

God places all His trust in you, and He is assured that despite the tribulation, you will remain upright. He believes in you, so do not let this problem cause you to fall. Do not give Satan the reason to tell God, “Look, the person in whom you placed your trust cannot withstand this period.”

Show God that you do not love Him because of the goods He has given you—when everything can collapse, remain upright. Show God that nothing visible or invisible can separate you from Him and that even if hell breaks loose upon you, your faith in Jesus will not waver. Let the wine become vinegar, do not change your cup.

Let the wine become vinegar, do not change your source, for if the source that produces wine for you ends up producing vinegar, tell yourself that this is temporary, and God will be glorified…
