KEY VERSE: I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God… The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. (Revelation 21:2, 24 LSG)

The church must not only be diligent but also militant.
Two important remarks are made in the Bible regarding Levi’s militancy. First, it is said:

He said of his father and mother, ‘I have no regard for them.’ He did not recognize his brothers or acknowledge his own children, but he watched over your word and guarded your covenant. (Deuteronomy 33:9 LSG)

When it comes to obeying God’s Word and keeping His covenant, Levi acknowledges neither father nor mother, nor brothers… In other words, he will not compromise his convictions for anyone. He possesses an unwavering spirit when it comes to spiritual matters. This is the kind of believers who transform nations. It does not take a large number of people to change a nation, but it does take a few people of conviction. Jesus said: “You are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13, LSG) and “the light of the world (Matthew 5:14, LSG).

Do all the ingredients of a dish need to be salty for it to be flavorful? Do all elements of a room need to be sources of light for the room to be illuminated? Just a few grains of salt can season a dish, and a few light bulbs can overcome the darkness. All that God needs to transform a nation is a “small remnant.” The Bible says:

Unless the Lord Almighty had left us some survivors, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah. (Isaiah 1:9)

A small remnant can make a great difference. Today, sociologists have confirmed through computer analysis that only 10% of a population is needed to shift a nation in one direction or another. Sometimes, it can take even less than 10%. When England had a population of 10 million in the 1700s, John Wesley changed its destiny with 100,000 Methodists. When the U.S. had 150 million people in the 1960s, Martin Luther King changed its character with 250,000 disciples. What makes a “small remnant” powerful is not its size but its conviction.

A few people, if they are fully devoted to a cause and refuse to yield to pressure, can change the course of history.
This is how the early Church made a difference in the past, and this is how it must do so today.
The great news is that the Church will not be alone in this battle.
In Moses’ final words about Levi, he said:

Strike down his adversaries till they cannot rise. (Deuteronomy 33:11 LSG)

This blessing implies that Levi will have enemies and many adversaries. Since the Church seeks to make a difference in society, it must understand that it will face attacks. Yet, this will not stop it from moving forward. Jesus said:

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. (Matthew 16:18 LSG)

Most of us quote this verse as if Jesus were saying that the church will be protected from attacking enemies. But that is not the idea. In this declaration, the Church is not the one being attacked—it is the one attacking. It is hell that tries to protect itself against the Church by closing its gates, but it will be powerless before the divine energy that will flow from the Bride of Christ. Yes, the Church will be attacked, but the Lord will break the backs (Job 40:12) of its aggressors. Let God’s people move forward with His agenda. They will be more than conquerors because they are not alone.

The Lord is looking for a handful of believers to change the destiny of nations.
Can He count on you? You have long studied history; now, rise up and make history!

PRAYER

Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, we worship and honor Your presence in our lives. This battle is not ours. You go before us in this fight. You will never leave us nor forsake us. I pray in Your precious name. Amen.

APPLICATION

Ask God today for the grace to be part of His small remnant.
Ask for the boldness to stand for God’s principles, knowing that He will support you and fight for you.
