The God’s gift to His children.
Let’s take a moment to go back to Acts 8, as there is something else I want to highlight. Notice in verse 5 that when Philip went down to the city of Samaria, he preached Christ to the Samaritans. He did not preach the Holy Spirit to them. You see, you don’t preach the Holy Spirit to the world; you preach Christ to the world so that they may receive salvation. You can preach the Holy Spirit to Christians. Jesus confirms this in Luke 11.
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13
Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit is a gift from God to His children, not to sinners! On the other hand, we know from the Bible that the world can receive Christ and be saved.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
So, Jesus is God’s gift to the world, and the Holy Spirit is God’s gift to His children.
Today, there is much talk about the brotherhood of men and the universal fatherhood of God. It all sounds good, but not everyone is a child of God, and although God is the Creator of all, He is not the Father of all. He is only the Father of those who are born again. And the Holy Spirit is only the gift of God to His children.
