The Holy Spirit and Your Response.
“God speaks in one way or another, yet no one notices. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds. He may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword.” Job 33:14-18
Today, many people still cannot believe that God speaks. The above Scripture shows us that God speaks in various ways. He speaks for many reasons; it is up to each person to respond appropriately to enjoy the blessings related to His instructions and interventions.
A prompt and accurate response to the voice of the Holy Spirit results in extraordinary breakthroughs and elevations. God speaks in different ways, though people do not pay attention. Many believe they are too busy to listen to God’s instructions. You need to set aside quality time to connect to Heaven’s frequency and listen because God still speaks, especially through His Spirit.
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” Luke 11:13
The Holy Spirit was given to believers to help them walk with God. Use what you have to get what you want! The Holy Spirit is not verbose; He simply desires a prompt reaction to the instructions He gives.
“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space lies our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” (Viktor Frankl)
Reacting means acting favorably and timely, demonstrating clear understanding and readiness to obey what was said. This quick action is, in reality, proof of loyalty and allegiance to the One who speaks. Many Christians do not make remarkable progress in their daily walk with God or reach a high dimension in their lives because they are not only insensitive to the instructions and directives of the Holy Spirit but also delay them at will.
The Holy Spirit is a person endowed with reason, will, and emotions; He can be grieved or quenched (Ephesians 4:30, 1 Thessalonians 5:19). Once He is grieved or quenched, the flow of communion and communication stops momentarily until it is restored. To enjoy the communion of the Holy Spirit, you must become familiar with His language to respond promptly to His directives, instructions, and inspirations. Walking with the Holy Spirit always requires a precise response time. If you do not react in time, you miss out on great blessings.
Any favorable reaction to the instructions and impressions of the Holy Spirit, to the opportunities He creates for our advancement and elevation, provokes an extraordinary breakthrough. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and Truth (John 4:24).
“The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being.” Proverbs 20:27
When God wants to speak to you, He addresses your inner being, not your flesh, as the flesh seeks to satisfy its desires (Romans 8:8-9). That is why your inner man must constantly be in harmony with the frequency of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 3:16). You must be willing and attentive to apply His instructions in time and live a godly Christian life worthy of God’s kingdom.
“However, as it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’ — the things God has prepared for those who love him — these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, ‘Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:9-16
The Apostle Paul operated at a very high level with the Holy Spirit, and through personal revelations, he exhorted believers to grasp the work of the Holy Spirit to improve and avoid a life of bitterness or mediocrity. The Holy Spirit is God’s agent on earth. No one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God who is in man.
The Holy Spirit searches all things, even the deep things that eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, and that have not entered into the heart of man, which God has prepared for those who love Him. The Holy Spirit knows the will of God, ongoing events, blessings, and attacks orchestrated by the enemy against your belongings: marriage, children, family members, business, health, vision, or destiny.
Thus, He warns us by giving directives, inspiring us, or leading us into rich communion to activate the blessing, prevent what the enemy and his cohorts are planning against us. This is why we must promptly respond when He speaks, as missing the opportunity means a great blessing eludes us.
God speaks and will continue to speak, but the ears that hear will eventually tire of hearing. God’s music will not stop playing; only those who dance will tire of dancing! Let those who have ears hear what the Spirit says. Inappropriate reactions can be dangerous or even catastrophic if not heeded.
“Therefore, since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, God again set a certain day, calling it ‘Today.’ This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted: ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.’” Hebrews 4:6-7
Ancient Israel missed many major breakthroughs due to unbelief and late reactions to God’s timing. The author of Hebrews says: “Do not be like them; today, when you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts” (paraphrase).
“For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.” Hebrews 4:2
The greatest mistake and limitation in many people’s lives today come from their slow reaction and implementation of God’s instructions. Israel did not add faith to the instructions it received. The prompt reaction the Holy Spirit expects from us, whether it seems senseless or not, is to add faith to God’s instructions because without faith, no one can please God (Hebrews 11:6).
Not believing in God’s word is proof that you are unbelieving or have doubts about what was said or asked. It is an expression of disloyalty and lack of trust in the One who spoke. It shows a double mind and instability. And the book …
