For several years now, I have made it a habit to start my days with prayer. I also take time to fast, during which I pray and meditate on the Word. All these activities help develop and strengthen my spirit. The Bible shows us that Jesus spent much time in fasting, prayer, and the Word. These three spiritual practices are considered the keys to His success on earth.

We are free to develop spiritually or not. However, we must understand that without conscious, continuous, and strategic spiritual development, we become easy prey for the devil. The Bible describes him as a lion prowling around, seeking someone to devour. It also says in John 10:10 that he only comes to steal, kill, and destroy.

The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

It is our responsibility to remain sober and vigilant in prayer, fasting, and the Word. We cannot legitimately complain about witches, occultists, or any other dark entities, as they have no power over a responsible person who takes care of their spiritual life. There is no excuse for not taking the time to pray, fast, and meditate on the Word.

We all have 24 hours in a day. We are free to manage these 24 hours as we wish. Wisdom dictates that we prioritize what is most important. Our spirit is undeniably our most valuable possession.

We are Spirit.

The Holy Scriptures teach us that we are created in the image and likeness of God. God then formed our body from the dust of the earth so that we could live on earth.

May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24

There is no doubt that each of us is a spirit dwelling in a body that will one day return to dust. There is also no doubt about the existence of a spiritual world that acts on earth through human beings, either for good or evil. When we sleep at night, we sometimes experience things in dreams that later come to pass in the natural world, whether days, months, or years later.

We have heard testimonies from people who, although in a coma, could see everything happening around them in the hospital room. We (spirit) are the devil’s target. From the moment God formed us in our mothers’ wombs, the devil began to seek ways and means to destroy us. He started by doing everything possible to prevent the pregnancy from reaching full term.

Once we were born, he multiplied actions of seduction to draw us to him and destroy us once we gave him the opportunity. When I was still young, I remember being seduced by Satan through impurity. While I was barely a teenager, I had intimate relations with a girl from my high school.

From that moment, I became an instrument of the enemy as he regularly used me to seduce girls, sleep with them, and then look for others. This life of debauchery was accompanied by lying, seduction, and manipulation.

At that time, I did not realize that I was an instrument of self-destruction, destroying others in the process. It wasn’t until I began a life of prayer, fasting, and meditation on the Word that I realized I was in darkness.

Prayer, fasting, and meditation on the Word of God allowed me to regain my spiritual freedom and change my life. I chose to follow Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life. His Word became my guide. His Word commands me to pray without ceasing so that I will no longer be trapped by our adversary, Satan. It is up to me to do this.

It is my responsibility. It is not the responsibility of a church, a pastor, or anyone else. It is up to me to be vigilant, and woe to me if I do not…
