Throughout my life, I have witnessed the power of choice in action. I call it the power that keeps man. It is a seed of God within man. You make the choice, and He sustains you because He is committed to supporting you.

Dear friends, simply choose to stop any illicit action or to break a certain habit. Especially if you are a child of God, the blood of Jesus will sustain you. Satan legally has no say in the matters of your life because God:

…has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:13-14

Sin no longer has power over you according to Romans 6:14:

For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Therefore, those who choose freedom can be free. Even natural, unregenerated men make firm resolutions and stick to them.

I read the story of a man who resolved to wake up every morning at 2 a.m. (to plan his day, not to pray or read the Bible) and would go back to bed at 5 a.m. This became his natural way of life. I have read so many stories about this man, and all of them led me to conclude that man has an enormous reservoir of power within him, of which he is not even aware. This power is the power of choice.

When a man chooses integrity, heavenly revelations become a regular experience in his life. If Daniel could be free because of his choices, so can you.

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” Daniel 1:8

Joseph also walked in the freedom of his choices. Such will also be your experience.

Now it came to pass after these things that his master’s wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said, ‘Lie with me.’ But he refused and said to his master’s wife, ‘Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?‘” Genesis 39:7-9

Holiness is a choice to make, a vision to pursue. It is a life of choice based on the Covenant. Your choice is sovereign in your fight against sin. Daniel lived in a land of depravity and defilement: Babylon was the headquarters of sin for the entire world. Yet, he decided not to assimilate into such debauchery. He made a choice for righteousness and stood by it, and that choice led to his ascension to the throne.

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19

This passage further highlights the power of your choice. Life and death are before men. But it is within their power to choose what they want. God can only suggest what you should choose. The ultimate choice lies in your power. The cards are in your hands.

Your choice is supreme in the journey of righteousness. It is your choice that matters, not the atrocities of Satan. The prodigal son made a choice that was later credited to him as righteousness. Some vicious things you do can stop today if you resolutely stand against them like the prodigal son did, by the power of your choice.

The devil has nothing to do with it for once: it all depends on you! You can make the right choice, and the blood of Jesus will seal it with an indelible mark. Sin lost its power the day the blood of Jesus was shed. The choice now belongs to man. The devil cannot question or invalidate a choice you have made. Impossible! God says to His precious sons and daughters today:

Therefore, ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.’” 2 Corinthians 6:17-18

Come out from among them, not try to come out. It is you who decides to come out. Choose today to separate yourself from immorality, lying, financial corruption, trickery, and other deceptions, and live upright and with integrity. Choose purity and holiness, and honor will follow you everywhere.

It may seem like an impossible mission at first (as it was for Joseph), but the world will come calling for you later. Your business may seem to be sinking at first because you refuse to give bribes or conform to the rules of corruption. But it will rise faster than you think, because the world will call on you. Why? Because righteousness exalts. It does not destroy.

When the father of the prodigal son received him back home, honor rested on him like a mantle. Sin beautifies no one; it makes one ugly! It is salvation that restores beauty and splendor. Just make a firm choice for holiness and live uprightly. Once that choice is made, you are in! Once your choice is made and made public, Satan is defeated and destroyed!

Make the decision to live in holiness. Decide for righteousness. Make that choice today! The work was finished long ago! God is just waiting for your choice.

It is the little foxes that spoil the vine. That small mischief, that little lie, that tiny bitterness disqualifies you from the great and glorious army of God. God is just waiting for your choice. You will not be disqualified!..
