THE POWERS TO BECOME A STAR.
One month after the trial, Senami and Ahmed helped their friend Koffi find a place to live, covering three months of rent in advance. They also gave him a sum of fifty thousand (50,000) CFA francs—about 150 euros—for his expenses while he searched for a new job. Koffi remembered a message he had once heard on the prison loudspeakers, delivered by a wealthy English-speaking billionaire.
In that message, the man said that the starting point for anyone who wants to succeed is information. Anyone aspiring to success, he said, must first go in search of the right information. That’s what will help them discover their purpose in life and fulfill it to be truly happy.
From this man, Koffi learned that many young people end up dead, sick, imprisoned, or addicted to various drugs simply because they lack knowledge.
To this billionaire, transformative information is a source of light, and any young person who lacks it is doomed to blindness. Blind to their destiny, blind to opportunities, blind to their gifts and talents… They’re also blinded by the success of those who have taken responsibility for their lives. Such people become envious and spend their time criticizing the success of the few young people who have made it.
After thinking deeply about it, Koffi came to the conclusion that what happened to him was meant to help him grow and become who he was truly meant to be. And to become that person, he needed to seek out information. Koffi decided to go buy about fifteen books written by the billionaire to gain access to information that could transform him.
Within a few weeks, Koffi devoured all the books—and bought five more. He also bought a notebook, where he summarized his readings and jotted down his own reflections. He organized everything he had learned into eight key points.
That morning, while reading the latest book by the man he now referred to as his mentor—even though they had never met—Koffi had a strange realization. He looked around and noticed that his room was clean and tidy.
He also felt filled with hope. His language had changed. He complained less and less. He had stopped blaming his parents for his situation. Koffi also noticed that his clothes were well washed and neatly arranged, even though he didn’t yet have enough money to take them to a dry cleaner.
His hair was well-groomed, and he now walked with more confidence and serenity. Coming out of this deep reflection, Koffi suddenly exclaimed to himself,
“Wow! Am I changing?”
Koffi then summarized what he had learned about the power of transformative information from the books he had read…
