Your knowledge of God’s presence will affirm your elevation and ensure your authority.

The Lord said to Joshua, ‘Today I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, so they may know that I will be with you as I was with Moses.'” Joshua 3:7

Joshua is to succeed Moses, the great servant of God. What a challenge! The leaders of the people agreed to obey Joshua on the condition that God be with him as evidently as He was with Moses.

They answered Joshua, ‘Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses!‘” Joshua 1:16-17

As soon as people know and see the signs of God’s presence in your life, then they will learn to listen to you and obey you. How was God with Moses? God worked signs and wonders with him. The strength of leadership comes from the reality of God’s presence in the life of the one called to leadership. And when people see and notice that God is with you, they will listen to you and accept to follow your lead and authority.

Let us not force leadership, but know the spiritual source of leadership: the presence of God. The same presence of God that made Joshua a great leader for Israel can make a fearful man a valiant hero…
