When the Holy Spirit comes to fill you with His water, He does so to quench your thirst and fill you. But the water of the Holy Spirit must overflow and also lead you to quench the lives of others. Jesus said:

“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink… Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” (John 7:37-39)

I have demonstrated this in my previous illustrations, with water filling and overflowing from a glass. This phenomenon of overflowing waters occurs spiritually, in the unseen world. The Holy Spirit fills you first, and when the waters overflow, they affect and influence the outside.

Christians are vessels in which God wants to pour down His glory. My sister, my brother, be a receptacle of God’s power! You must be flooded to the point where God’s power springs forth from you and floods your surroundings and the people you come into contact with. The amount of water that fills you and flows from you depends on your volume, your personal spiritual capacity.

A Christian with a spiritual volume of fifty centiliters cannot quench a large number of people. They can barely quench themselves and therefore cannot be a source to quench others. Thus, the more you increase your volume (the wider it is), the more powerful God’s anointing is in you, and the more capable you are of meeting the needs that arise in your environment, of solving problems.

The disciples had developed the habit of casting out demons. But a certain demon in Matthew 17:21 resisted them. Jesus explained to them that this kind of demon could only be driven out by fasting and prayer. Why fasting and prayer? In other words, He was telling the disciples that the amount of anointing they had received so far was insufficient to overcome this demon.

Remember, it was after Jesus fasted and prayed, in Luke 4, that He was filled and clothed with the Holy Spirit. So, the disciples needed more power to drive out this demon. Beloved, spiritual warfare is a matter of power. You absolutely must increase the power of God within you. If you have been praying about a legitimate situation for several years without resolution, it means you lack power.

Jesus said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.” It is this power that attracts resources, it is this power that calls and brings people who participate in your destiny to you. But if it is very small, it will not have a great impact. It will not touch many people and will not bring you sufficient resources. For you to experience greater grace and more power, you must expand your spiritual volume.

So, God will do extraordinary things through you. Repeat after me with conviction: I expand my spiritual volume.
