According to Christianity, man holds dominion over God’s creation. All power has been given to him to govern the earth. When God placed man on the earth, He positioned him in a garden to cultivate it. The difference between the forest and the garden is that the garden grows according to the gardener’s will. However, the forest evolves naturally. This is undoubtedly an impossible task for other animals. So, what gives Man such hegemony? The idea that comes to mind is to make a comparison between non-human animals and human ones.

Let’s start with the king of the forest, the lion. This animal has an ultra-developed musculature. The male’s size varies between 1.80 m and 2.10 m, and the female’s size varies between 1.60 m and 1.80 m. Male lions sleep about 18 to 20 hours a day, compared to about 15 to 18 hours for females. This implies that a minimum of four hours is enough for a lion to show the animals of the forest that he is the boss. He has little time to feed. This is the characteristic of a pure strategist who is confident and efficient in his actions. An adult male lion weighs approximately 190 kg, and the female approximately 130 kg.

When a lion roars, it can be heard nearly 8 km away. This roar is a mark of authority that stuns others. The feline even has the ability to filter light with its round pupils to provide excellent night vision. All these characteristics certainly allow him to claim the position of king. What about elephants that weigh a maximum of 6800 kg compared to a normal man of 82 kg? What shall we say about the eagle capable of seeing a tiny prey more than a kilometer away?

However, man remains the master of all and subjugates everything. In Dubai, some wealthy men build private zoos on their plots. They spend about five thousand dollars a month to feed lions, hyenas, and even tigers. Some have toothless lions in their living rooms, playing with their children like big cats. What gives humans the power to treat other animals this way?

According to Descartes, the animal is a body without a spirit, comparable to a machine. Unlike man, the animal is absolutely incapable of saying: “I think, therefore I am.” You have understood, the first difference between man and animals is the reason that the latter lack. Look around you now, almost everything you see is the fruit of reason. Obviously, what we use today is the result of a man’s reflection.

It is undoubtedly this ability to reason or think that gives man supremacy. The living environment of animals remains unchanged year after year, while humans’ environment changes very often. He makes modifications to improve his living environment. This is the result of reflection. It is from reflection that the frameworks, structures, organizations, and algorithms of enterprises come.

How can we govern if we spend our Sundays listening to a religious man constantly reminding us of our limitations and evoking the responsibility of our families? These speeches are sometimes true but, in return, make man irresponsible for his own actions. How can you escape poverty if you have three romantic partners at the same time? Or by sleeping until noon without remorse?

Those who think always prevail over those who don’t. About two years ago, a popular young man on social media received 27 million FCFA to finance his agricultural project. Two years later, he had nothing left. He fell into a gargantuan depression, then became a Gospel preacher, and in his speech, he made it clear that the riches of this world are perishable, that it is better to amass treasures in heaven.

But how to build a heritage in heaven if we don’t have one on earth? In reality, this young man only suffered the consequence of the lack of reflection. Many people, especially in Africa, justify failures by ancestral curses and family ties. They tell themselves that it was said that the members of their families will never complete their studies. Thus, they justify their laziness to study.

However, Adam and Eve had no ties of limitation, so what explains their failure? They were simply led by those more intelligent than them. If you know how to think, you will not be ruined, and you will save your descendants by sheltering them from need. But also, you will be an excellent ruler…
