“For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established.“ Romans 1:11 (NKJV).

The anointing and the gifts of the Spirit can be conferred or transferred. There are three ways to receive an anointing:

1. Directly from God, as was the case for me with the ministry of healings and miracles.
2. Through association, for instance, Elisha was associated with Elijah.
   By reading books, listening to audio teachings of someone who is anointed, and following their ministry practices.

Bishop David Oyedepo recounts a time when he struggled with the concept of divine wealth. During a fast, he read Gloria Copeland’s book titled “God’s Will Is Prosperity.” God revealed to him that He had anointed him to prosper and teach His people how to prosper. He narrates how, upon arriving in the United States for a conference, he learned at a hotel check-in that Kenneth Copeland had just left. He asked the hotel staff not to change the bed sheets because he wanted to sleep on the same sheets, believing that he received supernatural prosperity in doing so.

3. Through the laying on of hands, Paul transferred an anointing to Timothy.
   “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.“ 2 Timothy 1:6 (NKJV).

Joshua received the wisdom of God through the laying on of Moses’ hands (Deuteronomy 34:9 NKJV). Below are some examples of great men and women of God who received a significant transfer of anointing through other servants of God:

TL and Daisy Osborn

TL and Daisy Osborn faced challenges in their ministry. They went to India as missionaries, but after almost a year, they had baptized only a handful of people. Disheartened, they returned to America and accepted a pastorate in 1947.

During this period, they learned of Dr. Charles S. Price’s passing. Deeply affected, TL prayed:
“Lord, these great heroes of faith are now gone, and millions are still dying. Thousands are still sick and suffering. Who will come to their rescue? Who will shake our great cities and fill large halls with the magnetic power of God, healing the sick and casting out demons? What will the world do now?”

Soon after, in September 1947, they attended a meeting by William Branham. During the meeting, the man of God prayed for the sick. As the sick were healed, TL heard several voices saying:
“You can do it! This is how the Bible works! Peter and Paul ministered this way! This is how Jesus ministered. This proves the Bible is still true today! You can do it! This is what God wants you to do!“

After days of fasting and prayer, TL and Daisy received a divine commission to do the same. Since then, it is said that no couple has preached and witnessed more miracles than TL and Daisy Osborn.

Reinhard Bonnke

Reinhard Bonnke’s father was a pastor. Exposed to ministry life at a young age, he felt called to preach the Gospel and went to England to study at a Bible school, despite not speaking English, as he was German. He learned the language while there.

Upon completing Bible school, as he awaited his train home, he wandered through the town and stumbled upon a small sign that read “George Jeffreys.” George Jeffreys was the founder of Elim Pentecostal Church and a renowned evangelist who, with his brother, had preached and performed miracles that changed many lives.

It was said that during one of George Jeffreys’ meetings, the face of Jesus Christ appeared on a wall. All who turned to look at the face filled with love were healed.

Bonnke knocked on the door of Jeffreys’ home, and a woman answered, explaining that Jeffreys was too old to see anyone. Disappointed, Bonnke turned to leave but heard a deep voice saying, “Let him in; I want to see him.”

George Jeffreys told Bonnke that God had spoken to him about a young man who would visit, and that he was to anoint him to preach the Gospel across nations and perform great signs. Jeffreys prayed for Bonnke, and the next day, Bonnke learned of Jeffreys’ passing. There had been a transfer of spirit…
