Triumph Over Your Past.
“By the grace of God, I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
Regardless of our social status or race, we all share three common moments: the past, the present, the future. We hope for a better world in the future. We act in the present moment and draw inspiration from the past. Most people struggle to take appropriate actions to build their future because they often get trapped by past actions. The past, which should be a stepping stone for each to succeed, becomes an obstacle. The past has generated guilt, remorse, condemnation, fear, resentment in the lives of some people. They have limited their potential to their past mistakes. They have chained themselves with their own chains.
The past is gone. You can no longer change it. The only thing you can change is your future by taking consistent actions. Learn from your past and move forward. Imagine a driver who only looks in the rearview mirror to maneuver his vehicle. This driver won’t go far. And certainly, they won’t reach their destination. To win the trophy or accomplish your mission on this earth, you have a duty to leave your past behind and focus on the future.
Here’s valuable advice I give you: stay away from people who only remind you of your bad past in order to humiliate and disdain you. Paul was a blasphemer and a persecutor of faith. But he wrote something revealing:
“By the grace of God, I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain; on the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10
He became a different person. The transformative factor is grace. You may have been a prostitute, a robber, a thief, rejected by society, grace is available to transform your past and give you another testimony.
Five universal principles to completely overcome your past:
i. Know that those who succeed make mistakes;
ii. Acknowledge your mistakes, accept them, and decide to turn away from them;
iii. Cleanse your conscience of all guilt by the blood of the Lamb;
iv. Remain in his grace through faith;
v. Decide to lead a new life, the one given to you by God in Christ.
Confession: The blood of Jesus has washed me and redeemed me from my past life. My guilt, my sorrows, and my past mistakes were nailed to the cross with Jesus. I am currently living to dominate the world. My mind is renewed to make sense of my future.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the strength of character to quickly bounce back on the days left in my life. Grant me divine wisdom to go higher and farther. I am stripped of retrograde spirits. All that is virtuous perfumes my thoughts.
