Understanding the goodness of God: The foundation of faith
“What would have become of me if I had not been assured of seeing the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living?” Psalm 27:13
A few years ago, the Spirit of God spoke to me very clearly: “Proclaim the goodness of God and do not fear criticism.”
God’s goodness
At the time, the subject seemed simple to me. But when I searched for what the Bible said about the goodness of God, I noticed that this theme was addressed from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation. I was discovering more and more. I was amazed to see all that Scripture had to say about the goodness of God. Why do you think the Bible from the first to the last page, from the Old to the New Testament, insists so much on this simple truth of divine goodness?
Because it is the foundation of our faith in Him.
The more we understand the goodness of God, the more we trust Him. The more we trust Him, the easier it is for us to dedicate our lives to Him. And it is only by dedicating our lives to Him that we allow Him to save us, bless us, and act in us so that His wonderful will can be done on earth as it is in heaven. I continuously witness this during the sessions I hold at the Healing School. As soon as I began to teach about the goodness of God, I saw more miracles and healings than before. The more people understand the goodness of God, the easier it is for them to trust Him. This trust opens their hearts to His healing power. When they read in the Word that “the Father delights to give them the kingdom” (Luke 12:32) and “He does not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:12), they realize that God is for them, not against them.
The reality that God withholds no good thing penetrates their hearts. Contrary to what they thought, God is not trying to oppose their healing since He desires to do good; He is striving to help them. So, the sick relax, and by faith, they receive everything they need from Him. I pray that the same thing happens to you as you read this book because the revelation of the goodness of God will prepare you to receive from Him all that you need. You may not have taken the first step of this journey of faith yet because you have not welcomed Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. You may have heard of Him; you probably believe what you have heard is true: He is the Son of God, He lived a perfect life, and He died on the cross to pay the price for the sin of all humanity. You believe He rose again and is alive today.
You accept what He says in the Gospel of John: “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me” (14:6). You may believe all this but you have not opened the door of your heart to Him. You have never said, “Jesus, I receive You as Savior and Lord. Today, I entrust my life to You!” If that is the case, you are not alone. Many people (very good ones who even go to church) find themselves in this situation. They have heard of Jesus but do not have a personal relationship with Him. Although they go to church and know what the Bible says, they are still in the same spiritual state. They have never placed their trust in the One who can save them from their sin. Either they do not know they need to personally engage with Jesus, or they do not want to make the most important decision of their life.
In my opinion, there is only one reason why someone would hesitate to accept Jesus as their Savior: the fear of entrusting their life to Him because they are ignorant of His goodness. This person is afraid to give themselves to Him, lest He deprive them of the good things they aspire to or believe they need. Doubting that God has their well-being in mind, they let fear distance them from God. Simply put, they do not understand divine goodness. If this is your case, I know that the truths you are about to discover will provide you with the element of trust you lack.
They will give you the courage and confidence you need to take the step of faith necessary to entrust your life to Him. When you are ready, say the salvation prayer, which is at the end of this book. Make Jesus the Lord of your life and experience an immediate change in your life and circumstances. Why wait, when the goodness of God is available to you right now!
