Transmission is both a scriptural concept and a spiritual reality. Inoculation is a divine transfer that imparts a capability you did not previously possess. Through impartation, the Holy Spirit gives or grants you a gift, revelation, or spiritual power you need to fulfill your purpose.

I have received numerous transmissions that have changed my life and ministry forever. Notice that I said “received.” You cannot learn a transmission. You must receive the transmission by faith. The ministry of impartation is clear in the Bible. Paul said to the church in Rome:

For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen and establish you. That is, that we may be mutually strengthened, encouraged, and comforted by each other’s faith, both yours and mine” (Romans 1:11-12).

In this context, transmit simply means “to confer” or “give,” according to the KJV New Testament Greek Lexicon. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines “confer” as “to give, bestow, or grant from a store.” God has a vast storehouse of gifts and He wants to transmit to you what will strengthen you in your calling. Young’s Literal Translation of the Bible translates this word as “to give a part of.”

We can receive transmission directly from God or from anointed men and women through the laying on of hands. Paul told Timothy to stir up the gift he received through the laying on of hands. Timothy received the transmission from Paul through the ministry of the laying on of hands, which we see in other parts of Scripture. Scripture shows at least five areas of impartation: blessings (see Genesis 28:1-4); the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:14-20); spiritual gifts (see 1 Timothy 4:14); service (see Acts 6:1-8); and the ministry of healing (see Mark 7:27).

Methods of Transmission

The laying on of hands is used in the Bible to confer a blessing (see Genesis 48:14). Jesus laid hands on people to transmit healing power (see Luke 4:40). Moses laid hands on Joshua to transmit a portion of the authority he carried. The Lord said to Moses:

Take Joshua, the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the assembly, and inaugurate him in their sight. And you shall give him some of your authority, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient” (Numbers 27:18-19).

We find evidence of the manifestation of this transmission in Deuteronomy 34:9:

Now Joshua, the son of Nun, was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Once again, we see the Lord instructing Moses to perform a transmission in Numbers 11:24-25. In this case, the spirit of prophecy was transmitted:

So Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord, and he gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and placed them around the tabernacle. Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and placed the same upon the seventy elders; and it happened, when the Spirit rested upon them, that they prophesied, although they never did so again.”

The prophet Samuel anointed Saul as king with oil. The oil represents the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Anointing someone with oil is to transfer the anointing. 1 Samuel 10:1 says:

Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head, and kissed him and said, ‘Is it not because the Lord has anointed you commander over His inheritance?‘”

I believe we can also receive a transmission by hearing the Word in a Spirit-charged environment, through revelation. The preaching or teaching of the Word passes through the door of our mind to reach our spirits. We can receive the impartation of truth and anointing by sitting under an anointed teacher.

Of course, you can receive a transmission directly from God without anyone laying hands on you or teaching the Word. This often comes by asking, seeking, and knocking for more of Him, but it can manifest suddenly. More than once, I have felt the weight of the glory of a direct transmission from the Lord…
