There is an evil I have seen under the sun, like an error proceeding from the ruler: folly is set in great dignity, while the rich sit in a lowly place. I have seen slaves on horses, and princes walking on the ground like slaves. He who digs a pit will fall into it, and whoever breaks through a wall will be bitten by a serpent.” Ecclesiastes 10:5-7

Vision is the unveiling of God’s plan, while leadership is the major of God, and direction is the set of steps to take to accomplish this plan. God has called you to preach, that’s great! That’s the calling or the vision. But how will you do it? It’s at this level that you need direction.

Divine direction is a lifelong requirement. You will never reach a point where you no longer need divine direction. This is especially true in the Christian race. You will never get to a point where you no longer need God’s direction because a life without direction is full of endless frustrations! No matter how fast you go on the wrong road, you will never reach your destination! As long as you are on the wrong path, no matter the encouragement you receive along the way, you will never get where you want to go. Divine direction is your lifelong companion.

Divine direction is required for a vision to come to fruition. At each step, you will need God to tell you what to do next, which way to go, and what to focus on. If you miss His direction, you also lose the joy of living! But I see heaven opening up to you from now on, in the name of Jesus!

…but wisdom brings success.” Ecclesiastes 10:10

Even kings are frustrated without direction. Solomon said, “I have seen kings walk as slaves, and servants riding on horses.” And he called it evil. When kings lack direction, they become like slaves.

Ministry is one of the noblest callings on earth. Nothing can be compared to this calling in terms of nobility and royalty, not even the position of President of the Republic! Yet, for many, there is no sign of dignity and honor in this calling. How can you serve in the Palace of the Most High and live such a small life?

Solomon’s analysis in Ecclesiastes 10 reveals that the lack of direction is the reason for all the frustrations many suffer today in their various callings. It is true that many have powerful and authentic visions. But they lack the required direction to accomplish them. That is why their visions become like curses! But if you can locate your place in destiny and get the direction to get there, you will become a man to consult.

Therefore, the issue of divine direction is of paramount importance. It is as crucial as the subject of vision because it is the vision that shows the destination that direction enables you to reach, in order to make the vision real. Do not let your life end in frustration due to lack of direction, without taking decisive action.

The toil of a fool wearies him; he does not know the way to the city.” Ecclesiastes 10:15

The labor of the fool exhausts him! Even though he works hard, the harsh life does not end. Why? “He does not know how to go to the city.” Earlier in verse 10, Solomon said, “But wisdom is good for guidance.” This means that it is wisdom that reveals the “how” of any task assigned to you. And that “how” is called direction. You will no longer be there! You will no longer be frustrated!

Every aspect of your heavenly vision must have an equally heavenly direction. You do not pack your bags to go to a city or country just because you feel that’s where you should be. No! If you have received from heaven your call to ministry, business, or government, wait to receive from the same heaven the “how” that accompanies them. Only then can you pursue that vision.
