And God said: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” Genesis 1:26

The origin, source, and birth of man is a divine Spirit. To unveil the immortal nature of man, we must go back to the very beginning. A Spirit spoke in the eternal past and declared God’s divine plan, one He conceived before the foundation of the world. He expressed His eternal plan and decree for the creature called Man.

For thousands of years, scientists have tried to answer the question: where does man come from? All kinds of theories have been proposed, while the answers were clearly given by the Creator.

In the text above, we find a statement that deserves our careful meditation and consideration. Who was speaking here? The text makes it clear: God said—to whom was He speaking? What exactly did He mean? What does likeness mean, and what does image truly signify? We will discover these precious answers as we proceed with this study.

Immortality is an inherent attribute of God that was transferred to original man at creation. Please note that I am referring to the original Man, not fallen Adam.

Man, the ultimate image of God, the perfect man, was endowed with the life, breath, energy, and inherent vitality that are self-regenerating, self-sustaining, and self-rejuvenating. This was the reality of Adam before he was redirected to another realm that introduced a lower form of life called mortality.

Immortality is the end of death and its consequences, where a man decides when to depart. When a man can boldly speak like Paul and say:

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7. When a man can speak like Peter:

Knowing that shortly I must put off this tent, as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.” 2 Peter 1:14.

These are the words of men who had absolute control over their physical existence. They understood their position as Sons of God. They would not be suddenly taken by a force beyond their control. No, they determined when to depart, after their work was done, as the Lord had revealed to them.

Immortality grants the ability to no longer live by or be controlled by the consciousness of this world. In other words, Christ has become your reality. Christ has become your unconscious consciousness, your home, your dwelling—nothing but Christ. This arises from intimacy, fellowship, and daily communion that produce an unveiling, a revelation, or a rapture. You are carried into the glory and radiance of Yeshua. You capture the version of Christ known as Lord and Master. This is not born out of religious activities.

In its simplest description, immortality is the ability to extend eternal life to the human body, where the body is no longer subject to decay due to its alignment with the divine life within. The body displays the divine abilities inherent in Christ. This is simply the easiest way to convey it.

Eternal life extended to the human body is immortality…
