WHO IS A SERVANT?
Anyone serving God and His interests on earth, young or old, male or female, regardless of title, is a servant of God. We don’t need any title to be a servant of God. In fact, being a servant of God is the highest title anybody can have. Everyone that says ‘yes’ to Jesus and to every instruction He gives, is a servant of God.
It is written, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit should remain: that he may give it you. He may see.” John 15:16
When we go as commanded and do as commanded, then we are a servant of God. So, you can be an apostle and not be a servant; you can be a church founder not be a servant. Serving God is neither a calling nor and gift; it is a choice.
The Bible says, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
God does not pay title holders; He pays labourers. So, no matter our calling or title, it does not earn a thing from God; only the labourer is worthy of his hire. If we labour today, we will commit God to pay our wages.
Abraham was a blessed business emperor. I call him that because he had an army that could overrun a nation’s army; yet, he was an acknowledged servant of God. He was not a preacher but God reckoned with him as His servant.
“For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.” Psalm 105:42
God reckoned with this business emperor as His servant. So, we don’t have to carry any special calling on our lives to be a servant of God. When he heard his nephew had been taken captive; he took his own army, three hundred and eighteen of them and pursued after them, overtook them and rescued him (Genesis 14:14-20).
Just make a choice to serve God to secure your life, future and posterity. Make a choice and pursue your choice genuinely, not looking for people’s commendation because it is mere accolade. It is God’s commendation that changes people’s position.
“And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.” Luke 19:17
We don’t have to be a pastor to serve God; just make a choice to serve and we automatically become a servant of God. Serving the interest of another is what makes us the servant of that individual.
There are many founders in this world today who are not servants. They are neither serving God nor serving the people they are sent to. It is not a title but a task. Daniel, a foremost political leader, was a renowned servant of God.
“And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?” Daniel 6:20
There is no corrupt place; there are only corrupt persons. No one could find anything against Daniel, in a high level political office.
“Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.” Daniel 6:5
There are no corrupt businesses; there are only corrupt people. Daniel was acknowledged as the servant of the living God whom he served continually. The king recognised that, and we saw how he scaled the utmost height. He became relevant to the government of Babylon for sixty five years, under three kings. He was always sought for.
“So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.” Daniel 6:28
Serving God acceptably keeps changing our levels continually and the good news is that serving God is an open ended platform; it’s there forever….
